alright, need some strategy help

so, i sit down at tables where the play is extremely lose, thinking hey i'm going to play extra tight and the money will come to me. Yet more often then not, when i hit a hand they somehow hit a bigger one. They PFR a higher % than I CALL pre flop. yet when i hit AQ suited, they turn over AK. when i hit T T, they turn over cowboys. I just lost a quick 50$ to some people who are playing aggressive to the point of retardation. how how how does this keep happening repeatedly?? how can someone who PFR's 30% of the time win 60+% of showdowns, when I see the flop roughly that often and win 52%????

It's just variance. In loose games there's bound to be more variance.

You just need to concentrate on making the right plays, and in the long run you will profit, even though it may not seem like you will when you're running bad.

You seem to have the basics down fine (play generally tight at a loose table), which is all you need to beat the micros in the long run. If you're unsure about certain hands though, post some and we'll take a look at them.

I find that sitting at a table with extremely loose play is difficult. Having a loose player or two is ok for a table, but if the whole table is playing loose, then I feel like it is a game of Russian roullette. Everyone jump in and see who wins. Usually I will just get up and walk away from those types of table. There are plenty of tables out there, that will have the right mix. Try to find one with a little bit of variety. Everyone super tight is not any fun either.

How does it happen? Sometimes those loose people get on a run, just as tight players. That is definitely a table you don't want to be at. It can be sickening. Cut your losses and leave... I've tried to stick around until their luck ran out, and it can be costly.

i'm trying something new. i sat down at a table and burned off about 20% of my stack making retarded aggressive moves, now hopefully they will pay off my monsters...

i have now shown down some real head scratchers. lets hope it pays off in the long run

What limits are you playing?

If you're playing low limit, your table image is of minimal importance because half the players there will struggle too much with reading their own hand to even think about reading other players. Just concentrate on playing solid poker and save the fancy stuff for when you move up.

If you're playing high limits, where do you find tables with lots of donks like this? >_>

i am playing mostly at 25$ tables, though i just played at a 50$ table and the game was noticeably better. people were check raising their good hands a lot more, slowplaying monsters and generally confusing me. i caught a couple of good hands that were well disguised and made out fairly well, but i'm always fairly nervous at the $50 tables because my BR can't really handle more than one or two bad beats.

btw, how much $$ do you think i should have in my BR before i play the $50s? i have about 200$ right now, should i wait some more, or go for it?

you must be playing at party poker... By the way, a 50$ table has .25/.50 blinds, no? With a bankroll of 200, bringing in 50 is playing too much of your BR at one table... (about 1/8) you want to be playing with roughly 5% of your total BR at any one time. You should deposit at a place with smaller limits untill you get rougly 500$ br. Thats just My opinion though...

to play the 50 dollar sit n goes , i usually suggest a bankroll of 2000 or more, 200 is just to little, stick to 5 dollar sit n goes until you make 500 dollars then move to 10 dollar minis. If you need some help pm me

I think the 5% of your BR is a great minimum for entering a NL table. That is the standard I set for my move up from NL25 to NL50 and it worked well. I still go back and forth between the two depending on my mood.
