ALL In Pre-Flop is a great tool to have in the tool box but only bring it out when you need to. You must be patient with your hands. I usually only bring it out with AA or KK and then only if it is heads up and if I have a hunch I have him beat based on his or hers past play. In a multi pot action I have learned that there is just too much that can go wrong with doing an all In move with AA or KK or any other hand you went all in with (which is normally better than the donks out there). However, what can go wrong usually does and they hit there crap hand and you don't hit yours.
Let the donks do the all in move (they will thin out/self destruct soon anyway) if not this time certainly next time. In the long run they will contribute to your winnings. So just be careful when you do it. It has helped me in my game. |

depends... all in preflop is generally bad play.
Do it with garbage, get called, bust Do it with goods, don't get called, no profit off god hand. Of course both situations are contradictory on the idea. AK is the only hand which should be going all in preflop/ |

re: all in preflop? poker
All-in preflop is for steals, and short stacks. Mostly its people that watch too many final tables on tv and think they're pros. Everyone wants to win fast, but it also helps you lose fast. And why would you save you're all ins for AA or KK cause once people are on to you you just will never get called in the top hands where you want callers. Of course your gonna lose sometimes, but you will win more if you learn to play your monsters better instead of relying on some doink who's gonna call you with garbage. Although garbage hands are usually 2 live cards so probably have a better shot of crackin your aces than a hand like AK or AQ.

i honestly think that you should not go all-in pre-flop unless you know that you have the best hand, such as AA or KK. there are too many donks who will call you with nothing and win the pot with crappy cards. that is just the way people play online. there is no strategy that involves risking all of your money and getting a huge payoff, it is just not a good idea with people calling your AA with 6 2 and flopping a full house. don't use it is my motto.

Its a good idea if your opponents are loose and stupid, or if you want to take the blinds, or if you are dangerously low on chips and you don't know if you'll ever see a haand that looks that good ever again and you only want a headsup draw. There are lots of uses for it, but you may be called adonk for it.

All in pre flop
.This either a sign of a good / bad player. It is a method to rapidly double your stack and found used in tourneys where re-buys are available. In addition dont you just love those people thet do a min bet/fold and then take the re-buy thereby almost doubling thier chip stack. In reality they are all good tactics if used correctly. The problem obviously comes in if the all in is called. Ive had my pocket aces called by J 10o and lost to the straight..... If your opponent can afford the rebuy they may just call with a mid strength hand. Recently I have seen people going all in with any Ax and if they loose just rebuy. In a tourney especially low limit I tend to stay out of the fray with the all ins especially preflop unless I have a read on the player ie blind stealer / LAG |

All-in pre-flop is like any other poker tool - there are times when it's appropriate and times when it's crazy.
Deciding whether or not to go all-in pre-flop depends on the situation. What's your stack size relative to other stack sizes and the blinds? Has there been any other betting/action in front of you? What is the likely reaction of the other players after you go all? Will they call? Do you want a call? Etc., etc. Like I've said time and time again in this forum, there is never any set right or wrong way to play any hand - it always, ALWAYS depends on the situation. |

I try to avoid this kind of move unless im in the red zone with a plausible hand like AT or better, but sometimes i make this same move when im in the button and no one has entered in the pot yet , but when i do this i need at least a medium pair and the table has to be loose, so my opponent could easily put me on a steal.

Good question. . .problem is that luck really takes away most of the skill involved in pre-flop raising. You should be light with your pre-flop raises anyway, much less going allin pre-flop. I find myself ignoring the first ten maybe twelve hands to avoid the fools rushing to go all in. From those I've spoken with they find it easier to play with more than the standard amount of chips. They register for as many tournaments as possible and go all in on the opening hand in an attempt to pad their chip stack and make it 'easier' for them to play.
I have seen it both ways. When I first started I played a game or two like that and managed to finish at a final table or two. . .conversely, I have played more games straight up, using the all in as I should (when you have the nut hand. . .or at least believe that you do) and managed to make a little bit of money. |

i seem to think that allin preflop is generally a bad move even with aces because you never know what someone may call with. I try to stay away from it because there are still 5 cards that can change the outcome of your hand whatif someone calls with kq or qj or something dumb like that and the flop is QQ? or KK? or JJ? 9 times out of ten your allin opponent will have one of those cards where as if you would have made a sensable raise and the flop came as i outlined then you might be able to save yourself alot of money
