AK vs set of queens

I don't have the HH but heres how it went down: (25nl full ring)

ep min raised, folded to me on the sb. i reraise to 1 with AKs. BB calls so does the initial raiser.

flop is K Q 4. I come out betting $2. BB min raises to $4, EP raiser folds.

BB has $16 left. I have $22.

What do I do now?

I think the right answer is to call...but then do I c/f the turn or come out betting?

edit: oops i didnt mean to put his hand in the title. nobody saw that.

lol. The min raise on the flop should raise alarms. It's a 'call me' raise. I wouldn't necessarily put him/her on QQ but KQ is a likely possibility as well.

Hmm, at the stakes I play a minraise is often pretty weak, even minraising with something like AQ. I would say see if you have any notes on the player, has he minraised with tptk or worse before, etc. My instinct would be to call the minraise.

I suppose you could also reraise to 6 or 8$ then if they call/raise you should check/fold to the river.

type of player

the type of player he is should tell u what he is thinking...i can read so many players because of the way they bet...if they snap a raise out quickly or if they repsond to my retraise without hesitatio nit concerns me...so pay atttention to the speed of their bets and how much thought they give it.

im assuming this is a .10/.25 game? i wouldve made a stronger raise preflop with the ak. maybe 2.25 or 3ish. then when the flop comes do your c bet and if u get RR here then ure def beat while maybe saving some money u got the read and folded saving money. but anytime u get 2 outed AK vs QQ its never good.

Are you saying if you hold AK and someone with QQ spikes a Q, they two-outed you?

ldo, a,k has 6 outs while pock queens only have 2 so the queens get lucky by hitting

Well that is true, but the AK still ALSO has to get somewhat lucky because a pair of queens beats ace high if nobody improves

I really don't understand the reasoning here...

AK- misses the flop 2/3 of the time.
QQ- is always at least a pair

id probably make that call.. top pair with top kicker... i mean if you're going to fold that not much you can call with... just got unlucky cause he spiked a set .. i dont think you could exactly put her on queens...

I'd be call that too. TPTK. As you can see you can't win them all, otherwise they wouldn't call it gambling. Even if they had a set of 4s, you'd be in trouble so the queens are really incidental. If you knew before the flop that he had queens, would you have called or raised? what about fours? Either one would have the same chance of hitting a set. Yes only two outs but they already have a hand that beats you if you don't hit and sometimes you both hit as you see here. One third of the time you'll get your A or K on the flop but 1/8 of the time they'll get theirs so you odds before the flop are greater than than 2/1 your outs give you.

It's tricky for me because my experience is that if you have the AK and they have the queens, you're boned. If you have the queens, you're boned. Maybe God hates me too.

A K is really a overrated hand in my opinion, when it comes to how long you hold it. I've seen my friends hold it down to the RIVER without catching.

But seems like you played it right, not your fault he had the set, he could've had the set of 2's and had it obviously, sets are tough because they're sneaky, someone who calls your bets, big - then bigger, you have to wonder. Do they have a set? But it seems like you can't fold top pair, top kicker. Even when you should.
