Is it better to be aggressive or tight when playing tournaments with over 100 players??? I would like to get some response from people who have made it to the final table or really close. What type of player are you???

ARGH! I wish I could delete that article! Tight and aggressive are 2 adjectives that are used to describe different aspects of a player's game. You are either Tight,Neutral,Loose and either Aggressive, neutral, or Passive. Example Tight Aggressive is considered to be the most profitable style of poker. In a tourney the size of the blinds and your chip stack will dictate your play low blinds play tighter larger blinds loosen up.

Be both!?!!
Definitions= Tight = highly selective when choosing starting values to play. Loose = Play any 2 cards cause they can all win. Agressive = Ram and Jam get money in the pot. Passive = check and call, check and fold. Be tight and agrresive choose your starting hands carefully. When you find a really really quality hand in good postion, it is rare but favorable. Then be discretionary but raise fire, shoot, pound and punish. Bill |

You want to make it further try staying away from fishing unless you are willing to bet big. If you are going fishing don't just call place bets that will make people think. But try to limit the amount of times you do this because if they don't fold and you get called a couple of times with crap it will be harder to try and gain pots this way. Also get use to slow playing when you hook the big ones. It's hard to not bet but it pays off in the end.

Hmm Tough one!
I belive that you could combined them after the players still on the table. You must see if you have players which are nuts enough to call a big bet if they had also small cards and the ones which are to affraid of going with good hands. For me it's good to begin soft and then to be more agressive. |

There is no golden way to play poker, which should always be used. Im a firm believer in mixing it up. If you know your opponent, and know whether he favours one type of play over another, you have an advantage. This also goes the other way around.
a hint, though, if everyone at table is playing extremely aggressively, then let them duke it out and just sit back and relax, while if noone is betting on anything, start coming out guns blazing for some good pot stealing. /dydig |

tight players need luck, or they have to be very good as sensing weakness, so they can use their tight image to steal pots. agressive players need luck, or be very good at sensing weakness to aviod pressing someone with a good enough hand to call. untimatly it doesn't matter what game you play. what matters is how you play it, and how often you can make the right decision
