Top two pair is good most of the time on the flop, given there is no straight or flush out there. If I'm 100bb deep and have top 2 against a loose over aggrssive player I'll get it in everytime and I guess sometimes they'll have me beat most of the time they should have tptk or worse two pair. Don't let the results get you down if they're dumb make them a friend and wait patiently for your hand to be good and take their $

Its hard to figure an over aggresive player out, you just try to play smart and wait for the best hand. I just had a set of 6s on the flop to a pair of 4s and lost on the river when they caught a str8. You never can say if you have the best hand!gl

yea depends on the odds, if there is a good chance of a straight or flush two pair does no good so even though its tempting, either bet them out before they can get their draws or fold quick :/

Who you are playing against determines a lot. If I flop top two against a guy who goes all-in every flop, I'll get my money in there with him most of the time. If I flop top two, a guy check/raise shoves me and I haven't seen him play a hand in the three hours I've been at the table . . . Well, I just may get it in there with him too. But it's a much more difficult decision.

Are we talking tourney or cash game. In a tourney I don't think I'm ever laying this down vs a laggy player, even with a possible str8 or a flush draw. Too often it's a semi bluff. The only exceptions might be broadway flops or paired flops and even then I'm calling with a short stack.

I had a guy do this to me last night. 10nl, I think I had 44 and the flop was 456 rainbow. He shoves for $8 or so, but had been playing SO crazy I just couldn't assime the hands that beat me (23, 37, 55, 66, 78) were a significant part of his range. His range was huge. So I called, knowing this could be One Of Those Times where some nitwit calls a pfr with crap and gets lucky. He didn't. He had AKo, gave me his stack, and left muttering about what BS it was. This is why wildly aggressive play like that feels good, but is really bad. They push the table around and win a lot of little pots, and get called by hands that crush them. He could have learned I had a hand I was serious about playing with a much smaller bet. RF |
