I will play small pairs with a table of limpers, or to a standard raise. If I don't hit trips on the flop, then i'm out of the hand. If I hit trips, I play accordingly based on what the board represents.

Playing low pp's all depends on your position and the stack sizes of people at the table. If someone raises utg and you he only has 50bb to start the hand, it most likely is a -EV play to call with low pp's. However if you are opening the action or calling the action if you are >100 bb's deep then this is a call. When you flop a set you should be trying to get stacks. To justify calling especially oop (out of position) you must be 100bb deep. You are 7.5-1 to flop a set or better so with less that a full making a call is not going to show a profit over the long run. Hope this helps.

Small pockets suck. Unless you hit you pretty much done in.

Thanks chardukian - didnt know the odd

Yeah small pockets you limp looking for the set on the flop, depending on table image etc of cos. Don't accept that the set is going to win though, as some will play their two pairs to the death, esp higher pairs and may hit the higher full house

I have a love/hate relationship with small pocket - Hated them until I flopped quad 4's with an A on the board - BB went all in with pocket AA.....boy was he pissed

In early position at an aggressive table I'll just throw them away. At a table full of limpers I'll limp and hope for no raises. In late position I'll limp along or call a raise depending, like AG and others have said, on the effective stack sizes involved. I stacked (~120 big blinds) a guy on Bdog just last night when his top 2 pair met my set of sixes. He should have raised his AQ preflop and I might never have been in the hand.

i would play my low pp like big pp, be aggressive and bet at the pot, 2-3xBB preflop and half-two-thirds of the pot after the flop if there is no scary cards, fold to any raise
