AA in the BB (in Rush), Playing correct?

So I sit down for my little sesson of Rush poker today on FTP...

5NL, first hand I sit down to is AA in the BB.

UTG makes it 3x to go, gets 3 calls (CO, Button & SB). I made it a 1.20 to go and they all fold.

My question is did I re-raise too much or is this just the nature of the beast (being rush poker).

Input welcomed.

so bb raised to .15 and got 3 callers?
.6 in the pot?
I'd bet 1$ in that case but that would probably change nothing.
you made the right play.

You definitely made the right play with that many people in the pot. There could be all kinds of combinations on the flop that could have helped any of those opponents.

IIRC yes about .60 in the pot.

I figured I would have to make them work for it if they were going to continue.

Just wanted to double check my play.

It was one of those hands that when you first sit down... You go - "How is this going to go wrong?" LOL

You have to protect those hands in Rush...not really a play where extracting value is as important as the numerous opps you'll have seeing 150 hands an hour!

I think your getting some bad advice imo. Obv a raise, but you dont need to raise quite so much. Sure, this is going to win the most money short term because your folding out pretty much every hand except probably 10s+ at this level. But, raising to .85-95$ would be plenty. Even with one caller, the SPR ratio is 2:1ish and keeps decreasing hte number of calls. You can shove most flops if you prefer the protection route or 3/4 pot then shove turn.

m8 is better to win the blinds instead of losing with AA.The raise you made was good move.Bad luck you didnt find any strong hands against to play in order to win a good pot.But thats rush poker.You gamble good hands with the posibility to find 1 or 2 other good strong hands to play against.My advise for rush poker is to play brodway hands like J-10 and above but mainly AKs AQs and pairs the chances to lose is going down.Yes you might lose some hands from badbeat but in the end you will be + .

I think $1-1.20 is about right, AA does better against 1 opponent than many, so you would expect maybe 1 caller out of this bunch. you picked up 45c, but could have lost your stack if you made a small raise, got 3 callers and got outflopped

He's not betting here to protecct anything, he's betting because he has the best hand and wants to get as much value out of it as possible.

Telling him to raise so much to fold out all the worse hands. you want people to call here because its so rare that you will be outflopped. Obv need to raise but I think 1.20$ is to much...

From my experience, anyone with a quality hand willing to call a .95 raise won't scoff at the extra quarter. A re-raise is meant to weed out borderline hands so only quality hands remain. It makes for more predictable post-flop play.

For fun one night, everytime I got AA preflop (& there was even just one raise ahead).. I'd ship the whole pile in.. 100+bb's. You might be amazed by the types of hands that looked me up... it was very funny.
Of course I'd write in chat.. "AA obv!!.. what else am I going to put all those chips in with?" calls from med. pr's 88, 99, AQo, AK (< of course). They can't seem to let go of med. pp's.. when they're assuming you're a total fish shipping AK here.
I wouldn't recommend it (shoving AA every time!).. unless you want a great laugh. It actually paid off nicely though, lol.

I've thought about that from time to time. Ok I've got AA, ship it and see what happens.

I guess a lot of people out there just assume you have nothing and call. I'd be amazed to see what people called with.

I wonder for a challenge, Everytime you get AA ship it and record down how many times people call you with "x" hands.

I believe you made the right call. You cannot risk having more than 1 caller pre-flop else the odds go down too quickly. Heck I lost a KK all in when I had someone call me with their J-4 suited.

The only other thing that could really bum you out with those big blind pocket aces is if the whole table folds to the big blind and you had no callers.

im no pro but i believe it was the right call to make.ive played a few and have been whipped by not raising enogh and letting more players in on the pot.it seems players are playing bigger cards and more than likely you will get called with weak bet and get nailed more often than you think.

Just my opinion, but I think you have a few results oriented responses here. Sure, your odds go down with more than 1 caller, but hte odds you are beaten on the flop (which you should be shoving) are not very good ... and in the long run you will make quite a deal of money through folds and calling with top pairs/flush draws/etc. Maybe at the micros shoving every big hand will work I have never done it so I really have no value to add to that idea.

The shoving in the micro's is just one of those ideas that would be interesting to try out.

The problem I've always seen in Rush Poker vs normal ring games is the unreal range people will call with. Sometimes i just feel it's better to make them pay for it than slow roll it.

Then again I've hit times where that just doesn't matter. (I.E. Had pocket 99, flop a top set, guy kept reraising all the way down with just pocket 4's)

Rush is just a different beast...

IMO you made the right move, its not worth raising small OOP at get at least 2 callers. From experiance in RUSH at that level. AA does not hold up very often lol, definitly a BR buster for me.

you made the right play.. they just didn't have the hand to match up with your card.. maybe they have a weak connector .. good raise.. never let them chase.. or else your ACES will get cracked O.O
