6 max Cash Table Theory (MICRO Limits)
I recently moved to .02/.05 6 max tables and and having some success there...much more action and seems more beatable than the FR .01/.02 tables I had been playing.
I was thinking about it, and it has something to do with the amount of bad players at a FR micro table. I'm not complaining that the opposition is terrible, but when they get together in large numbers it increases the variance. I think by sitting down at a 6 max there are logically less hands dealt that can suck out on you. This cuts their odds down and fits my style a lot better. Just wanted to throw that out there and see if anyone finds better results playing at these types of tables, or has anything to add. |

In six max there's more action. More action attracts people who like to gamble. So there can be quite a bit of variance.
I played 6-max exclusively until recently, but have been having some pretty good stats at FR. So I'm playing that now. It's a lot slower though. Not as much fun. |

So then what's the rule here?
More people = less variance Less people = more variance I still think 6 max seems to make it easier putting reads on people and the action is fast. It makes it a lot easier for me to read the table when there are less people and the hands are coming quicker. |

I find the 6max games much more fullfilling than FR.
In my experience the 6max micros aren't necessary wild. You will often find tight tables. I'm a fairly tight and conservative player at tourneys (I think) but at 6max I raise away. Position isn't as crucial, reads are easier and table image is easier manipulated. In an ideal game I'll raise and take pots, I'll fold to obvious strength and I'll get stacks when opponents become frustrated by my raises and call when I'm strong. That's the plan anyway. At the 1/2c, 2/5c and 5/10c 6max tables you will find some very weak players. At the 5c/10c and 10/25c you will find some good players and many of these are multitabling, I'll avoid big pots with these players unless I'm a cert - on the plus side though, these players tend to be good for small steals. |
