| 6 handed vs. full ring again I'm interested in knowing which some of you prefer to play. I myself prefer 6 handed because the really skow players ( you know, the ones that think they"re on TV and almost always run the time down to zero and fold anyway,GRRRRRRRR) always seem to show up at my full ring tables in droves. Do the drawing odds and percentages change much either way? It just does'nt seem like there is aver any more money in the pots either. I also find it easier to keep up with the players and pick up on some of ther nuances and habits easier. All thoughts and comments welcome. |

| From everything I've learned, it's a different game entirely. I enjoy 6-handed ring play, and that's almost all I've been doing in the few months I've been playing online. However it's a bit more challenging and my swings are wider -- when I'm doing well, I make more money faster, but when I'm doing poorly I tend to bust out quickly. I've tripled up on a 6-hand table in 30 minutes several times. Then last night, after a couple nights of downswing, I switched gears and played a 9-handed .50NL ring game for about 2.5 hours. I left the table more than doubled up -- was almost 4x at one point -- but I was playing tighter than usual with aggressive plays on strong hands. The play was excruciatingly slow for me, being used to 6-way play. If you're an action junkie, you'll prefer 6-handed, but I think if you prefer smaller swings over a longer period you'll probably prefer full ring. Patience being one of the greatest virtues to good poker playing, I'm inclined to say full is probably a better learning experience as the heat is reduced somewhat. Once the player really has a handle on the game, 6-handed is probably more satisfying. At least that seems to be the case for my style of play. |
