| 4 max cash games I just started playing at ultimate bet, just as a second playing site...and I saw they have 4 max games at the micro stakes Is there any definitive guide out there about playing 4 max? or would it play similar to 6 max but with expanded ranges and more aggression? also, has anybody had any success playing this? |

| I like it, but table selection is so key. Often its regs who sit at 4-max tables, and sitting with 3 regs is torture. But usually the fish that sit down at 4-max tables are the super-retardo maniac type, so they're a lot of fun to play with. And regs usually over-compensate for 4-max, and you can see them spew off with some pretty random stuff. So typically, optimal play is your same 6-max game, because everyone around is over-correcting too much for 2 less players. So they're all playing 45/45/4 and you can play your normal 30/28 game and do just fine. Course, I normally played 30/28, so that may not be normal for some people, but you get the idea. Oh yeah, and the rake is lower, which is cool. Keys to 4-max: 1) Table select. 2) Don't over-correct too much. 3) Be good at late position stealer vs. blinds situations. 4) Don't over-correct too much. |
