3 betting

as a player gets better does the need for 3 betting decrease as their hand reading skils ect.. get better?Im just wondering this.

Your question doesn't make much sense. But three betting is something you might do MORE often as you begin to understand the tendencies of your opposition pre and post flop. It depends on if it is profitable to 3bet or not really.

A good player is not necessarily one who 3bets often, it is one who chooses the right spots to 3bet based on position, image, and read on their opponent. 3betting is more profitable in games like cash games, if you are an active 3better in sng's or tournaments it might not be so profitable for you, unless you pick your spots well.

Regardless it is entirely situation dependent.

Do not think that it is something that you should just throw into your game because a lot of great pros do it, they have great merit behind their actions.

I see.I've seen alot of players in the micros 3 betting with K10 and similar hands when in position and im thinking isnt it better to play them when in position.I guess it does depend on who your playing against.

I´d say yes. Bigger SPR tends to benefit the player with the better hand reading skills. I remember reading a blog post from BalugaWhale about why he didn´t 3bet a lot and the reason was to have deeper stacks post flop.

I have been tight 3beting with QQ+ in the cash games. learning to light 3betting now in certain situations mostly to isolate a Lag that open raises a lot.....But I been polarizing my range with SC with QQ+ I find that bordline cards like A10 or KJ dont do well against a call /or a 4bet with a tighter player. however might do well against a LAG but I prefer suited.

With PP 88-JJ Im more lightly to 3bet a LAG as well.

Learn,and learn,then learn some more about villains ranges.Then study some more about hand ranges.

Why light 3bet TAG when TAGs range beats our range more often?

Ok loose calling station with a high vpip you need to be widening your value 3bets to add hands like AJs,KQs,99 etc....Reason there calling a ton and your range crushes there and there unlikely to fold.Hence it would be terrible to 3bet light.

Ok vs a TAG at 6 max lets say villain is 18\16.If they open a pot there going to be raising.Lets say villain is in the CO,hero is on the BTN(BTW most tags know they shouldn't be calling a 3bet oop).Ok lets look at villains opening range from the CO.Look at his steal BB stat also this will help define his range.His steal % is 30%,So his opening range is leaned more towards ~30% rather than 16%.Lets put that in stove.

We have A4o on the BTN.Since we hold a A we cut his combo's to nut hands AA,AK etc.Since villain seems to have a understanding of position,he knows it's not good to call oop in 3bet pots,there for it's a good spot to 3bet this TAG

Generally, TAGs open-raise from LP with a wider range to steal, so we 3bet lighter because they'll fold. Against people who don't fold, we value 3bet.

Depends FR,6max,or HU?Also loose can be a loose passive fish or a LAG.

6max....i thinking 18-28 is optimal
<18 in nitty tight side and >28 is loose maniac side.

What numbers helps you define passive...agressive?

I mostly look at the gap between vpip and pfr.Lets say a good Lag running like 32/28 3bet 9% of the time,i don't want to be at that table.A good lag is mixing it up a lot but will not pay off a strong hand.Something like a 40/5 is the loose passives that ya dream of haveing to your right.There on my auto iso radar.Agree under 18 at 6 max is nitty.Most TAGish regs ~24/20.

If you have shown a few bluffs and shown a few hands after winning a pot on the flop, people would take your 3 betting a little more serious and making them understand that you 3 bet on tight hands. That's when you can start raising with garbage hands. If you ever watch Durrr play on those television games, you would understand why it's hard to be heads up with him when he 3 bets. Then you can construct your own 3-betting range to play against this type based on their opening ranges and how they respond to 3-bets. For example, if you want to polarize your range against someone who is going to fold good hands a lot and only 4-bet the nuts, you want to be weighted towards air/blockers.
