| 2005 WSOP - Making the right decision Ok, I was watching the 2005 WSOP on TV, and it was the beginning of the final table. Hachem had pocket 10's and was reraised all in by another guy with a straight draw. He folds them, and they do rabbit cam and show that he would of hit the straight. Now if you were in his position and had 10's vs the straight draw but you could see his hand would you make that call? Would you risk all your chips vs a bigger stack on something like that, or would you wait for a better hand or try to take little pots to build up your stack? Just curious on what you guys would of done. |

| no. the payout of FT's favors the top 3. fold any marginal edges until then, and then be aggressive. plus he was having to do the calling. shoving there first i dont mind, but calling off chips when he's like 60/40 isnt a good idea. |

| Wasn't he a lot more than 60/40? I thought he was like 75/25 or better. Anyway, if I knew I was 60/40 or better, with the pot odds I'd be getting at that point, (the hand made it to the turn, I believe, good-sized pot?) I'd call every time. So would Phil Ivey. If you think your edge is bigger than that, you're mistaken. If someone can get the actual numbers, I can almost guarantee you it should be a call by any player in the world if we somehow knew the hand we were against (which Joe of course didn't) |

If the odds are laying you a price where the call would be +chip EV if you were a 35% underdog, but you're actually a 60% favorite, that is far far more than a marginal edge. |
