$20 NL holdem party poker. Hit Ace on rainbow flop, u have AQ. Was I too timid???
Hi chaps.
I`m gonna post a few hands from this tourny today. I went out 8 places shy of the bubble and I`m wondering if I could have got more out of the hand and the next one I post. I`ve been reading Harrington on holdem and I`m sure he had got me playing a lot tighter than I normally do Here we go, let me know what u think... 0/0 Tourney Texas Hold'em Game Table (NL) (Tournament 34670517) - Thu Jul 26 09:26:59 EDT 2007 Table 219567 (Real Money) -- Seat 9 is the button Total number of players : 9 Seat 1: FCNori22 (18580) Seat 2: sgaalo74 (5010) Seat 3: Bennieboy333 (1360) Seat 4: Bugalugs111 (9120) Seat 5: Ronaldadio (6100) Seat 7: soccerroo67 (7590) Seat 8: zkunk222 (5380) Seat 9: stevenlast (2740) Seat 10: eldeal (5170) eldeal posts small blind (100) FCNori22 posts big blind (200) ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to Ronaldadio [ Qh, As ] sgaalo74 folds. Board is too soft, if opponent didn't have Ace then little chance he calls your bet since not enough was committed preflop. Both of you not big stacks there's no need for him to draw. Nothing special about his laydown, you could've slowplayed him on the flop but he'd still fold if hitting nothing on the turn. Consider raising bigger preflop, since only reraiser would be pockets to which you can tell immediately.

you bet about half the pot right? If i do my math right the pot was 1900 at that point and you bet 800 after the flop.
Since you were in bad position it would be hard to know how big to bet, since he could have an ace and called AJ/AQ(i've seen it too many times before) or AK pre-flop. Otherwise if he didn't have an ace, as shark said he wont stay with that flop because you gave him close to 2:1 pot odds (or does it go the otherway around? i always mix myself up =P). Next time give him better pot odds if you're not too worried about being outdrawn. Might have the advantage of getting more bets out of him, or if he does have AK he'll reraise you and you wont lose as much .just a thought |
