re: is 2 2 a good hand? poker I only limp in with 22, the odds of hitting a set are not good at all, and any other hand has at least one overcard (95% of the time two). So basically the only time you are a favorite preflop with 22 is if you are heads up against a player with two overcards. If there is a multi-way pot, more possible overcards are added to the mix of the ones that could beat you. Also, any pocket pair absolutely owns 22.

re: is 2 2 a good hand? poker I love a pair of ducks. If your in position and are paying a cheap flop, then you will get good pot odds. If no set is flopped, then it's an easy fold. When a set does fall (with an ace or king on the board), you will likely win big cash. Hopefully you don't run into a higher set, straight, or flush. I'd bet hard against any potential draws.

re: is 2 2 a good hand? poker I call 2 2 doo-doo for a reason, it's a shitty starting hand. It's worth seeing the flop of course, cuz you never know when that rare trip will appear, but don't pay too much to see the flop. Just remember, anyone at that table could pair anything on the flop and that would immediately beat you--it's tough--pocket pairs are always seductive, but this one always seems to bring me more pain than pleasure.

I don't like 2 2. If you don't get a 2, you're pretty much dead, at least in a 10 person table. You can't get a higher pair, you can't get a flush unless four of the suit come up, in which case someone else most likely beats your 2 of that suit, you will probably not get a straight. Of course, it IS a pocket pair, so if I can get in to the flop cheaply, I do.

| In a 10 handed game- With any low pocket pair (2345 for me) I'll call to try to see the flop as follows: __________________________________________________ ______________ |#_of_Callers_|__>6___|___6___|__5_|__4___|_3,2,1_ |________0________| |Position_10:_|_2x_bb_|_2x_bb_|_bb_|__bb__|_fold__ _|_Raise_3_or_4x_bb_| |Position_09:_|_2x_bb_|___bb__|_bb_|__bb__|_fold__ _|_Raise_3_or_4x_bb_| |Position_08:_|_2x_bb_|___bb__|_bb_|_fold__|_fold_ __|____fold__________| All other positions, fold. Sorry for the wierd characters... couldnt figure out how to make it appear formatted normally. Does this make sense to anyone? Is it a good idea? Quote:

re: is 2 2 a good hand? poker I think it's a case of the lesser of two evils... While a pair of deuces is a nice hand, anyone with a 3 higher pair on the flop has got your measure.. I think it's worth seeing the flop, as three 2's is a nice hand and the possibility of a full house is nice... Be wary of flushes and straights though...

I agree with Titan. I always want to see the flop with any pair because if you hit trips you are usually, although not always in for a good payday. Also if you are extremely short stacked it is not a bad idea to risk all your chips on this and hope only one other goes in with the two overcards and doesn't hit. If you are down to that last hope you have a slight advantage over the two overcards. It is something like 54/46. Keep in mind that if your opponent has A K there is no difference between a pair of 2's and a pair of Q's.
