re: 10 Proven Ways to get off TILT!!! poker Note that tilt is hardwired into the human brain, and doesn't necessarily have anything to do with "emotions": "as people regard themselves to have made gains, they tend to be less willing to risk losing those gains in exchange for further gains (i.e. they become more risk-averse). This is because subsequent gains bring less satisfaction than previous gains. Conversely, as people regard themselves to have accrued losses, they tend to be more willing to risk further losses in exchange for the opportunity to have lost less (i.e. they become more risk-seeking). This is because further losses don't hurt as much as the initial losses did. In many research studies, the effect of losses on decisions is about twice as strong as the effect of gains."

I voted for get a quick lay as I could always go a quickie, but I don't suffer from tilt, what is the use of tilting, it is only going to get in the way of the next hand, if you lose to a fool that chased all the way to the river there is nothing you can do about it except have your mind set on the next hand. It is these fools that most of your winnings will come from. And if all else fails Chant Goosfrabah until your blood presure returns to normal. BTW there is a pre requisit here at CardsChat that all Polls have Cake and Bastard included in them. Last edited by Zorba : 2nd July 2009 at 3:55 PM.

re: 10 Proven Ways to get off TILT!!! poker Exercise can be great too - even just a quick jog around the block or up and down the stairs a few times. I'm lucky to be in one of the few countries where #7 is legal and just a short walk or taxi ride from the casino

taking a break is good usually... when i get up early in a tourny ill sit out for 30-40 min... by the time u come back a lot of people went out and u still have a decent stack.... u might miss 1 or 2 big hands but u also missed like 10 or 12 that wouldve took a big chunk out of ur stack...

Nice post This is a great post, I choose to take a break because after losing a lot of money I don't wan't to keep on losing by playing after that hand. It's a great post and I know most people lose a big pot every now and then. I just hope I stop going on tilt after every month LOL.
