WOW! These new Matrix tourneys on full tilt

As some of you may know if you read my blog,that I am a small (very) stakes player.Well I just logged onto FT to play a SNG and noticed in the lobby they now have tourneys called Matrix.Basically its a 9 man STT but you play the same 9 players at 4 different tables at the same time.The structure is that every player you outlast at each table you get 1 point,and every player you KO gets you 2 points,with the total points going to a league when all 4 tables are finished (hope you can understand lol.) You also cash if you finish 1st,2nd or 3rd at any of the four tables.
I have only played one table at a time before,and to all you guys that multi-table,I have TOTAL respect for you.It's manic! Haha.
Anyway I won the first one I played in with 30 points and took a screenshot of the tournament lobby after it finished but don't know how to put pic up here. Anyway it would be good to know what you guys think about this new tournament format.

I really enjoy playing these small stakes matrix SNG's because it has helped me learned to multi table a lot better than i used to and i just think the general idea of them is kind of cool

This 'new' tourney has been around for months now. They are great for lower stakes players, i've always done well in the $2 ones, but a bit of a waste of time at higher stakes. A $10 matrix is essentially 4 x a $2 SnG with an added incentive for knockouts/survival. In my experience this turns it into a bit of a donk-fest as there are always players who put WAY too much emphasis on knocking players out, meaning you'll see almost every J 9 off-suit and higher played aggressively!
They are great for a low bankroll though, as you have 4 chances of at the very least winning your money back, and one first place out of 4 boards will almost put you even. This means there is a far smaller risk/reward ratio and its quite easy to play a tight game and increase your bankroll slowly and steadily. There are far smaller downswings in matrix, but ultimately less gain (unless you do a clean sweep, winning all 4 boards knocking out players along the way!)
Keep it up though, I still play these occasionally so maybe we'll meet on the felt! GL.

I'll play them once in awhile for fun. They are more manic than playing the same number of tables of cash games because of the changing situations/blind levels.

These are excellent if you want to reduce your variance, because they are low-risk low-reward tournaments. The only problem is that its hard to make a lot of money in them, because you basically have to get 1st like 3 times in order to get the money you would normally get out of a SNG at that level. My problem was that I would just TAG it up and let everyone knock each other out. I would place top 4 or 5 every time on each table, but I never really knocked a whole lot of players out.

I enjoy these matrix SNGs whenever I play them, which was quite a bit when they were newer and here and there since I started playing again a few weeks ago. The sample I have played is small enough that my results don't mean much, but my results have been excellent when I play them. Which is probably why I like them to this point.

I'd like to think there is something about the format that lends itself to success for players like me, but I'm sure it's just that I've run super good in them so far.

I like these.
I have just played 3 on the trot,showing a profit on all 3,and taking down the 3rd one.But boy does my head hurt.I didn't know playing poker could be so exhausting

I saw the advertisement for these tournaments. This is definately something i want to try. It seems like a good way to understand and recognize how your opponents play. I will try to play a few of these tournaments by the end of this week. GOOD LUCK to all

I've tried a few of these matrix games at the low levels and they're quite fun and perhaps a good way to practice multi-tabling. But after playing a few of these, I decided to go back to single table SNGs since the profit you make on these are quite small. For instance, for the lowest stake of $1.25, if you win all 4 tables and win the overall matrix pool, that's still .90 x 5 = $4.50, which is equivalent to the first place money of $4.50 in a single table SNG. It does seem like this is a good way to get some practice in without risking too much. Since I'm not a frequent multi-tabler, I'd rather play a matrix game than register for several regular SNGs.

i find it to be an "all in " fest due to the KO point system. Its a fun setup but I dont think the investment is worth the return. If you have a good game, your looking to only doubling your money on these. It did take me a while to figure this out (because they are so fun). It is a nice change of pace, but not a game if your looking to build a bankroll.

These have been around for quite awhile now but they are a great way to keep you thinking while playing. If you are good @ multi-tabling, then you should have no problem placing ITM.

You should actually be finding that they are slower than regular STT's. The fact you can outlast people for points makes these games go quite slow. Normally a turbo STT can take in the upwards of 40 minutes, and sometimes I see these going to insane blind levels that I've never seen in a regular STT.

Yeah, I haven't found the matrixes to be all-in fests at all.

Ive played them and found them a right laugh, playing same players on all 4 tables.
You tend to try and concentate on possibly 2 if u are doin well.
Wished other sites done them.

I think people are missing the point of low risk/low reward tournaments. You can play at slightly higher buyin levels because you are almost sure to get some payout. Of course you can't win as much at the same buyin level, but you're almost sure not to lose as much.
