It's quite a good learning process, watching pros on TV. I saw some poker a while ago.. I think it was the WSOP and I got totally hooked watching how they play.

Watching is great. But you have to remember that the final table (which on tv looks like 1hr) lasts likely 8+hrs. They cut it down to make it more exciting.

Even though you can learn a lot form watching, you have to remember they don't make plays like that all the time, expecailly when there are 6 or less at the table.

its funny, i watch the pros on tv to try to learn, then you see players making moves you wouldn't dream of making..sometimes it works ,sometimes it doesn't...if we make a play like that its blasphamey..if phil ivey does it its a "solid move" dont get me wrong i love watching them play, but imo its hard to learn a whole lot watching daniel negreanu go all in with 3 4os or calling david williams down for 500k with k high..dont get me wrong im a huge fan of dn and ivey but they play on a diffrent level thats hard for me to phathom...

These guys just know how to read well! They get the table narrowed down for a showdown(2 people in the hand) and figure each other out. Also alot of hands are won without even the flop on the board. That's professional poker, folding before the flop. They go on position, chip count, you very rarely see alot of players in the hand after the flop. On a freeroll for example, good luck to have less than 3 to the river, lol!
