| why o why? why is it when your playing in a tourny and the blinds are say $20 and you get a good hand so you raise say it say 200 you get called by the blind and 9 out of 10 times they have rags is that 20 really worth protecting that much thanx |

| Some players like to protect their blinds because they think you are stealing them. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but if you raise to $200 in your situation, that player might sense you are trying to steal and call with a hand they normally would not. I normally just raise 3-4x the BB and if they call me with crap and hit their cards, I don't lose as much. You also didn't say what kind of cards you held in your example. If its a high pocket pair, you want them calling all the time. Sure, they will win a couple, but you will win so MUCH in the long run. If you just have two high cards, your only about a 60-70% favorite to win, so its not like its AA vs. 72. |
