Whoo!
Hey gang,
I'd posted awhile back about struggles I was having with my live game. Well, yesterday started the turnaround. I convinced everyone to halve the speed of the blind increases, then dominated! Six player game with re-buys, 3 re-buys total (none of them mine). I was all-in or had my opponents all-in 6 times during the game, and 5 of those times I was revealed to be ahead. Unfortunately, I lost 4 of the 5 times I was ahead (though I did win the 1 time I was behind). One thing I did adjust in my game is to stop making so many "moves" late in the game when the blinds started to get large but everyone was getting impatient. Calling ranges were dropping, all-in ranges were dropping, etc etc, and the rationale that says when the blinds go up so must your aggression just doesn't work when everyone else's does by more. So I sat back and waited for cards. Anyway, unfortunately, I took 2nd place and 30% of the prize pool, but 1st place was clearly mine in Sklansky bucks. I went in with 2/3 of the chips, quickly re-raised pre-flop all-in with a middle pocket pair and got busted by a lower pocket pair, then with 1/3 of the chips I called an all-in where I sensed weakness and it turned out he had T9 to my K6 (all of the same suit) and he hits his 9. I'm pleased with my play, though, and that's what counts. Thanks for all the help guys! I've been taking a break from sorts from online play, I wonder if that's why I'm suddenly more patient?? - Beriac |

Good to hear
I think a telling line here is 'everyone was getting impatient' - if they are diving in (i guess all-in?) than remember the chances are they could well knock each other out as well - so you dont have to do anything and move up the ladder at the same time - cool ![]() I have found that one of the secrets is indeed patience - when you next play an online tourney or longer session cash game check to see how many times you see the flop. Anything more than 20% is quite loose, i thinkmine is usually around 15% but sometimes only 10-12% and i still made the top places. Thats 10-12 hands out of every 100 and still coming near the top - patience ![]() Congrats again and remember you'll always be learning something new Enjoy and Peace |
