| Where to play in LA this week? Calling all SoCal experts--I'm in LA (OC actually) for business this week and want to play somewhere a few times this week. I really enjoy MTT's and try to keep my buy-ins under 300 but will go over if I must. A search here showed commerce as a recommended place but it looks like its LA poker classic week with multi-day tournaments that I don't have the time for. Or should I just forgo MTT'S and find a single table? Any I should avoid? Read a few good things about Bicycle and Hustlers but I value the opinions of the members here more than random Internet feedback. Thanks in advance! |

| Ok so this might turn into a trip report but that's OK since those after me might find it useful. Played at The Bike two nights ago in their $60 buyin and placed 7th getting 120 back. Casino was meh but had alot of people in it. I think someone had puked recently somewhere as anytime I walked past that general area I got a distinct puke smell. Drinks were free and service were plentiful and service was really good. The chicken kabob plate was awesome--chicken was cooked absolutely perfectly (far better than the 20 plate at some fancy kebab shop I visited the night before). Players were questionable. First hand had a knockout and the 3rd did as well. Never seen that before! There were quite a few obnoxious people and a fair amount of swearing and threatening and a security guard was posted for the final 2 tables. Dealers were good but didn't like taking any crap at all about their managing of the game. Made things uncomfortable--it's a damn game people. Played last night at Hustlers in their 135 and placed just outside of their money when I flopped mid pair (8's) with a open ended straight draw in SB with only BB in pot. Being one of the smaller stacks at the table I shoved and ran directly into KK. Hit the straight on the turn for the save then promptly lossed when another diamond hit for flush. Sometimes I swear I revert to the ways of the donk. Hustlers was far nicer than The Bike and the players were better too. Much better IMO. Drinks cost (even my beloved diet coke) and dealers were good. A few errors caught by others though. Far more friendly players and no yelling or confrontations--made for a fun night. |
