When at a live casino poker table...
Where do you guys prefer to sit? Next to the dealer? Across from the dealer? At the end of the table? Under the table? LOL Let us know the odds and ends about seat preferences... I am gonna be playing some live table gamnes soon and wanted to hear everyone's take! |

Away from anyone smoking, smelly, or ugly. It doesn't matter in relation to the dealer, because the button travels around the table so everyone gets bad and good position each revolution. So sit where you're most comfortable.

I like sitting at one end or the other because you can see everyone at the table without looking left and right very much. The middle of the table is better if you dont have good eyesight though because the cards will be kinda far away.

Well,
I don't play at casinos. But, at home games I like to sit on the sides as opposed to the ends. It is easier to deal the cards that way and I can see better from there. If I were to play at a casino and she was cute. Heck I would sit next to the dealer. ![]() |

I like to sit online on the right side of the screen. For some reason I get better cards when I sit there. In tourneys/freerolls you don't have a choice tho.
Playing live - I like to sit where I can see the cards! I'd love sitting directily in front of the dealer, but I usually sit on the sides. I think I need glasses! Holdem - sitting next to the cute dealer is fine, but they change like every 30 minutes or so, so you never know who is coming next. LOL And I agree with Diablo - hate sitting next to smoker directly. I don't mind the smoke in the room but when the guy next to me blows it in my face, YUCK! Then there's the two big 250 lb guys on either side of me squooshed in the middle trying to reach my cards between a 6" space. LOL. And then there's the obnoxious, big mouth know it all lady (I said lady, not man LOL).... I could go on. Luckily, lately I've sat at fairly good tables that are round so it really doesn't matter the place you sit, you can see everyone. |

Well I can't stand the smoker so it would be away from the smoker. But If I had the choice I would like to be on the left of the aggresive player at the table so I could act after him. I would sacrafice sitting next to the smoker If I knew he was the most aggresive!

Across from the dealer, easier to toss the mucked hands instead of making them reach all the time. I smoke, and wondering. Where are you guys playing that allows smoking?? Are you talking about a home game?? Have yet to hit a poker room that allows it.

Hi - The smokers I run into are in bar poker games.

I don't like to sit on the side where people are constantly walking behind me or beside people smoking cigars. I can deal with the cigarettes but the cigars kill me.
Other than that, I try to sit to the left of either the most aggressive or tightest player I know at that table. That way, I can head for the hills when it gets crazy without donating as many chips. |

Add me to the "to the left of an aggressive player" camp, though all other things being equal, I prefer one of the spots in front of the dealer since I have a better view of the cards. Way down at either end they're harder to see, especially at a glance.
Yesterday I was in front of the dealer, though, and the cards I was dealt kept sticking under the edge of the table and angling up a little bit, which drove me nuts because I was afraid other players would get a chance to peek at them that way, so I started blocking the edge of the table with my hands so that wouldn't happen. Both local casinos I've played at allow smoking. I don't smoke but figure it's just something I need to deal with if I want to play poker. |
