I learned to play stud around 8 years old watching my Dad and his friends play. From there I learnt how to play all sorts of different poker games from other family members and from friends. Hold-em I learnt from watching TV two years ago and have been hooked since.

I was betting on bet365.com when I saw a banner. I clicked and I played some freerolls, without winning too much.

Well I learned 5 card draw by teaching myself; I learned to play 7 card stud by playing a Super NES game called Vegas Stakes (The A.I. on that game was on the level of "idiot"); I learned game of choice, Texas Hold 'em, by watching the very idiotic Celebrity Poker Showdown (I hate poker shows with celebrities) and then I watched the World Poker Tour; and I learned triple draw poker by playing online (and I am not good at that one).

I also learned some stategy by reading a little bit of Phil Hellmuth's book Play Poker Like The Pros and Harold Lederer's DVD The Secrets of No Limit Hold 'em. I think I benefitted more from the DVD since Lederer is a better teacher and isn't full of himself like Hellmuth is.

I learned to play from a buddy of mine, i picked up very quick and it came pretty natural to me to understand the quality of hands, position, pot odds, and implied odds. I'd like to think of myself now as an average player. i've started reading some books and im always looking to improve my game.

I was reading Kevin Smith's blog (yes, as in Clerks... That Kevin Smith) and he said about UltimateBet. I grew intrigued as to why he was so addicted, so I went and downloaded the client, and read up on basic strategy. Went to Wikipedia, looked up Poker, and that was that

tv/friends

Before i even knew how to play my friends would have cash games and i would just drink and hang out with other friends who also werent playing. It took about a year or two of hanging around them before I even was curious to learn the game. But as soon as my friends taught me I began watching poker on t.v all day at work and have played almost everyday since

I'm pretty much new to online poker, and I am yet to deposit anywhere. I really like tournament play, and I was wondering what you thought were the best sites for me to consider making my first deposit at.

Late nights over at the golf course were all the training I ever needed. Real life experience beats a book any day.

Started when I was 12 working as a caddy at the golf course, we would play all kinda games. Always a .25 cent ante, Also played with my buddies at every hockey tournement. We would always get a roll of quarters from our parents and play till we won a bunch or lost it all. Didn't really get any good til lately.

Actually I first satrted to learn how to play on the old Nintendo. Casino Kid. Once I started playing that game years ago I starting picking up the hand held poker games and then started playing online for play money and learned the basics. Never really knew how much strategy was involved in the game until I started seeing the WSOP on TV. I am hooked.

I started to take an interest in poker by watching it on late night tv. The stakes involved made it exciting and to see someone win a pot with no hand at all just amazed me. Only recently started playing at different online sites and hopefully improving all the time. Forums like this are a great help to give tips and also advice on how to play hands and moves to make. Thanks to all in the community who post and pass on their wisdom to the younger generation
Hoping to try and set up a small game with some friends, experience the live action first hand! Just have to be sure not to make a of myself! lol

I learned to play on partypoker playing the play money tables. I built myself up to hundres of millions of play chips (lol) and finally decided I was ready to play forreal. From there I deposited 50 bucks went to a ring game and am still building on that 50! I thought that the play money tables at partypoker were a great place to learn.
