I learned how to play poker growing up all my life. We played as a family. I started playing Texas Holdem online and now sometimes play with my family. Online is a great place to learn but I am sure casino play would be very different.

PokerStarsPokerStars is one of the best sites to play online poker. They accept US players & using PokerStars marketing code CARDSCHAT you get a $75 bonus.

PPParty Poker is probably the best known online poker room. Use the Party Poker bonus code CC500 for a 100% upto $500 deposit bonus.

TV got me started

Saw the head'up finel in Barcelona on TV and went on-line the next day. Until then I played a couple of times with friends.

I really think it was a mistake to start with high stakes money games since I bumped in some experienced palyers and lost a lot.

well, now i'm on my track.

I learned to play with a home game. My first time I lost 60 bucks. I then went online to learn how to play better. I have also read a few books.

I got hooked on poker when I saw the classic, "Rounders".
After that I read some articles on how to play, watched the WSOP and played alot of freerolls.
Then I started to play for "real" when I won like 20 bucks from a freeroll at Expekt. Then to get to know some more stuff about the game I bought the book Poker handboken, poker handbook in english(Good book for starters, the only poker book in swedish). Then I played some more and then I wanted to learn more about the game so I bought the book "Hold'em Poker; For advanced players" (great book).
And now im playing and still learning stuff about Texas hold'em.
Have also started to play some 7stud, 5stud and Omaha.

I learn to play every time I sit down at my computer, or in a home game. I never play poker when I don't take something new away from the table. An ongoing lifetime process.

I learned at pokerroom......Hit and miss in Nov 2004. Played in tournyments with at least one person getting mad at me for doing something stupid at every table. Ssince I am a strong believer in learning from your mistakes. it has helped me some. ...................... As you can see when I play with you all in the freeroll tnys I still have a lot to learn ... ..LOL

But I should note that I have won a few tournyments (7). So I must getting a little better - lol

But they have far apart and only on the days where I remembered to take off my Stupid cap....LOL

Hi all,

I learned to play poker over many years of watching my parents play poker at home with friends. I just watched peoples playing habits and followed the cards that came with each persons move. After a few years of begging moms to let me play with them, I finally got the chance to play a game with everyone and whipped their butts. From then on, I have been playing anywhere from 3 - 12 hours a day playing poker. 90% online now, but must get those sit downs with friends 3 times a week.

They say practice makes perfect, but in poker, there is no perfect, just a lucky river. lol

Cheers

My family played card games a lot, so I learned 5 card draw when I was a little kid (don't remember exactly what age). We just played for chips or pennies. I only learned holdem this year from watching Celebrity Poker Showdown on TV. Now I'm turning into an online poker junkie.

I learned to play as a kid. At all my family get tothers we play a lot of games. Cards, domino's and "Murder" (a marble and dice game) were the ones we played most often. I didn't really get interested in it until I went to the house of one of my friends and they had a tournament going on about 2 years ago. I have been rehooked ever since.

I began playing poker when I was about five. My brothers and I would use my moms buttons and pennies and play for hours. I just started playing texas holdem about two years ago. I play everyday, to keep on top of my game. Well hope to see u at the tables!
