They had roaming charity casinos here in Toronto. I started as a dealer and then turned into a poker player.

PokerStarsPokerStars is one of the best poker sites on the internet. They accept US players and using PokerStars marketing code CARDSCHAT you get a $75 bonus.

PartyParty Poker is probably the best known online poker room. Use the Party Poker bonus code CC150 for a 30% upto $150 deposit bonus.

problem being is that you spend a few weeks playing the play tables your brain starts to think that you need to play that loose to win - and obviously when you actually start playing the cash tables you get your ass kicked
id always reccomend new players to hit the 1 cent tables if they were really wanted to learn the game
i actually learned to play on a site which i forgot the name but they had play money tournys i won first one i ever played and ive been hooked like a fish since...was a fish then but not no more......dragon

I started playing poker many years ago. But the games I was used to were not the "Pro" games I play here. I'm used to games like Baseball,7 card no-peek,Burn the cross and of course the most nasty game I ever played.... 2 card guts.

first off, rounders got me interested. i already knew how to play from certain filipino poker games. once the world series of poker became a hit then a lot of my friends got into it. never really started playing online until this past year. which led to me tryna play money on paradise poker then eventually real money.

I learnt to play online at Paradise Poker. Fairly quickly - I decided I liked no-limit more than limit. And I had my fair share of abuse confessing I didn't know all the lingo (what does pocket pair mean )

learned to play

My good old friend T.V. helped me out on this one. One the channels broadcasted the WPT and the program always started with a quick No limit Hold'em tutorial. It was very easy to pick up.

Oh, watching the WSOP. Did play money at Party Poker for a couple months. Then to Ultimatebet for endless tourns. Once I couldn't signed up for every tourn, cause I was no longer getting knocked out in the first 15 minutes, and I started having 3-4 games going at once, I branched out.

Started on draw poker with some mates $10 in every friday night, won a set of chips and we all moved on to holdem, opened a poker store lol, and started playing on pokerstars fairly successfully. My mates still play about once or twice a year in a $200 h/l holdem freezout, but it amazes me the hands these guys still think they can win at (i usually try to come 2nd) as not to scare them off.

im still quite young, i saw my dad playign online and he taught me to play, i always used to say to him how sad he was when he watched poker on t.v, now a few years dwon the line he admits i am better than he is, and he plays every week with his mates, i also live to watch poker on t.v now which is quite ironic i guess.

Forced by my parents

I learned as a kid playing the game Tripoly (5 card draw game). My parents even to this day try to deny that they introduced me into gambling. I actually wish I didn't love the game so much as I would be able to get more sleep, as I am not fortunate enough to play for a living.

See ya at the tables,

I learned to play at weekly home games where we played dealer's choice. We played a lot of different games, but in the past two years as hold'em has gained in popularity, we have had town wide tournaments and it has been a lot of fun. I play online at partypoker and noblepoker mostly in the penny ante games for fun and to improve my skills. I highly recommend noblepoker for the novice and suggest that you can improve your skills while not dropping a lot of money.

Started playing with my friends a long time ago but we were never very serious until maybe 2 years ago. We played mostly 5 card draw and 7-card stud. Been learning Hold 'em on Paradise, micro limit games and freerolls

I've played th usual games with friends for years. (acey-ducey, baseball, 5 card draw, etc.)Was invited to a game (of hold'em) with about 15 guys a year and a half ago, and was knocked out in about 15 minutes. Learned to play better through the WPT and WSOP. Started playing online a few months ago, but only low stakes games.

Poker school

I used to play draw poker at school and then paused for some years. When a friend of mine became dealer in an casino nearby I gave it a try again with Holdem and later all other kinds. More learning by doing, I'd say.
