Both of my parents had a habit of playing cards when they were younger. I learned early, don't remember when exactly, but I do remember losing $30 to my father 1-on-1 when I was 9-10 and crying about it (lol). As well as playing cards with my parents and their friends (my first 10-person table), and winning over $80 that night.

PokerStarsPokerStars is one of the best sites to play online poker. They accept US players & using PokerStars marketing code CARDSCHAT you get a $75 bonus.

PPParty Poker is probably the best known online poker room. Use the Party Poker bonus code CC500 for a 100% upto $500 deposit bonus.

Started just playing some Friday nights with friends. Then my sister got me a job dealing cards at a private club. Being a dealer I learned to watch the players. And have become a much better player since. Because being a dealer you can sit back and watch while not being involved, you pick up on their habbits, which now helps me not get caught up in just my cards.

me and a few friends decided to play poker after we all watch the same programme on tv after we all separatly went home and we have never stopped since.its been great to watch how each others game has changed since the beginning. The people who used to win when we first started by bullying are the worst players now.

I learned to play through trial and error on royalvegas. I strted playing about 2 years ago and at first it was to pass time. I slowly learned to enjoy the game. On dec 30 of 2004 my dad told me he had 6 onths and because of this i took a couple weeks off work. He pssed away only 9 days later. During this time i did not ply was not into anything really. when i finlly got back to it i entered a limit holdem MTT on RV. I didnt know it was limit till it started.i was pissed. Somehoe someway i won that tourney and i am sure there was some intervention by my dad cause i just could not lose pulling out miracles all over the place. since that day i hve played nt tourneys winning one about every 2 weeks and having final table apperance t least once a week. i have read books and mny posts and articles but what happen that day taught me alot. So i think i learned most of my ply there.

I learned my first poker game (7 card stud) by playing the Vegas Stakes video game for the Super Nintendo, and then later discovered Hold'em by watching TV

I am part of the Moneymaker effect. Got hooked on the game after the 2003 WSOP. Playing real money for the second time. First time went bust and decided I needed to learn more before trying again. This forum has given me a little confidence, growing everyday!!!

I have always enjoyed playing poker with friends. Throughout highschool, I used to frequently play holdum at school with chips during freetime and breaks whenever we were bored.

I then started watching Texas Holdum on television, and that got me interested in playing online.

Thats basically how I started playing poker.

I learned to play the old '5 card draw' back in my teen years, then as an adult I found quite a few guys into texas holdem, so I learned that from them. I still prefer live games, though. I think I prefer holdem now, but I am nostalgic about 5 card draw....

WOOOOOO Party Poker !!!!!!!!

LMAO for play money too. about 3 years ago I was invited to play a t a live game by a pool buddy of mine so I decided I'd 'learn' how to play first on an online site. All I learned is that is is easy to turn $2000 in playchips into $2,000,000 by just going all in till you lose and then getting another $2000 when you lose. So what did I really Learn? what terms like LMAO mean... and I guess at least the betting structure. There is no learning until actually money is at stake.

I was a self learning person. I never played till about 3 years ago and I played at tiger gaming that was my first and only play money site I did that for about 1 year and then moved to freerolls. So I've been growing and learnig through my mistakes.

Starting to play long years ago for fun with family.
Then once in university, well .... when you're 5 or 6 mates and nothing to do in particular, cards games take shortly the front of the scene.
Never really stop playing and, maybe 6 months ago, watching WPT on TV, have heard about poker on the internet and give me a chance to come into this wonderful land

learned

I learned to play poker from watching some of my friends play at my apartment. Then I began playing with them and then some online.
I really started to "learn" how to play poker from reading up on articles online and playing in online games.

Offline & online

I learned offline over 15 years ago. No money involved just chips, drinks, and smoke. That lasted about 7-8 months before taking off to EU where I played there again a lot and this time for dinheiro... with chips, drinks, and smoke.

Then in 2000 online poker got my attention, I started at some now very famous places. Today I play in smaller, less exposed room where the offers, bonus, league games, and freeroll are nice and juicy.

Less people the better = quicker games, no waiting time, better service.

See you at the tables!

It's tha same with me. I have learned to play poker online. Lately I also play life tournaments. You learn so much more by playing life. Sometimes I got the feeling that online poker isn't fear at all, but by life poker it's all up to your self.
