Are you referring to leaving the table and coming back?

I believe most sites will not let you leave with more than the max. table limit and return with less.

Example you are playing a NL table with a $25 buyin max and you get you stack up to $37 and want to leave. You decide to comeback within X minutes, you must sit down with the $37 you left with. I believe this is there so you can't pocket the $12 and comeback to only risk $25 again. It must be a gentlemen's rule.
