When to leave the table / profits - help me out

I am curious what you all think about this because i heard it mentioned before.

If you join a table with $50 (example) how long until you cash out and leave the table?
Do you wait til you double up, until you lose a certain amount or do you stay there for a set period of time.

If the opposing players are feeding you well, do you stay and milk as much or do you leave before you lose any of your profits.

I don't play a lot of ring tables anymore but when I did, my usual rule was to double up and then evaluate. If there was more money to be made, I'd keep going. However, I always put a stop loss amount on myself to ensure a nice profit from the session. There was really no rhyme or reason to the amount, it was just how I felt about my game, the table, etc. The only factor that was important was to ensure I walked away with a double up or very close to it!!

I like to use predetermined time at a ring table. By playing for a period of time rather than a dollar amount you can focus on consistensy of good play. I find if you focus on the dollar amount you can go on tilt a lot easier when you lose a fair size pot or go down a buy in. If you focus on good play then the money will come to you.

I don't use dollar amounts. I go by table selection. I judge by the type of play I am encountering. If I am losing but getting a good read on my opponents, I stay to eventually benefit. If I am winning but I figure I'm just getting lucky at a tough table, I leave when my good card run ends.

If you are talking about limit ring games, it is simple -- you leave when either you are not able to play your best, or the table is too tight (I like to see at least two loose players and a VPIP above 25%).

If you are playing no limit, then depending on your style of play there might be a reason to take money off the table so that you don't have so much of your stack at risk.

i play ring games a lot. i usually shoot for at least 25% of my buy in. If I buy in for 50 when I have 62.50 i'm usually happy with that. If the action slows and/or cards dry up after a hour I'll leave. Especially in this case a earnings of 12.50 a hour isn't bad at all.

depending and what sort of table your sitting at..sort of players..cash flow thats going around..

i generally like to leave when ive got enough for a few more buy ins
eg. sit with 50 i like to leave with 150 - 200 but still playing my own game as in consistant and not letting the money rule me but have it more as a guideline.

In a no-limit game, I will size up the situation when I double up (or close to it). Usually, I will leave at this point but I may decide to stay if the opposition seems weak and I am confident of making more.

If I lose my stack on an all-in, I will rebuy once but never twice. No point in throwing more money in if it looks like I`ve hit a bad streak. Better to turn off the PC and go watch TV instead.
