When the cards don't come
I'm sure many folks will answer that you don't need good cards to win; however, with the call happy folks that play online it's a necessity. Was playing a Maui SNG at Noble last night and never got a hand worth playing. The best hand I was dealt was 10-7 offsuit. I could not believe the number of times I got 9-2o, 8-3o, etc. I managed to steal a few blinds from the tight players and came in 4th out of 10. Truly frustrating when nothing worth playing comes along. Decided it wasn't my night and shut down the computer. Playing quality hands is very good advice, but it's nice to get one once in awhile...

One time I went all in with 5, 2 offsuit to get out of a tournament becuase I was having any luck at all. Two people called me and I ended up pulling a full house. I couldn't believe it and neither could the other players. I ended up placed 47th that day. I'm not saying go all in with crappy starting cards but it goes to show you how much luck is involved. ![]() |

I hear you Dave,
Sometimes you just have those kind of days. The other day I kept getting 72 & 73. It was crazy. Of course it beat getting AK a whole bunch of time and not winning with any of them at least you can fold 72 and 73 without having to think. Just have to wait out the bad times and start again fresh the next day. |

Last night my first hand at the Paradise WSOP freeroll was 2/9 and I was on the big blind. So I checked and went for it. Really bad hand and I thought I'd be folding real soon.
Flop shows a 2/9/6 - now I have two pair so I bet big to win the pot, but of course got called by 2 people. Then another 9 comes out so now I have a full house. So I bet real big - one folded and one called (couldn't believe it) last card was a 3 so I bet again. And the guy still called me. I got 2380 chips altogether and was pretty satisfied with my little 2/9. Normally, I would never play that hand but since it was in the blind I did. Of course, if someone had raised the betting big before me, I would have folded. Interesting. |
