What is up with Bodog?

Has anyone else noticed that Bodog is cutting back on their poker operation. First of all, a year ago Bodog had 3 daily $500 freerolls. An afternoon, evening and late nite. Now they only have the afternoon and evening.

Secondly, they used to have a 30 pts $500 freeroll in the evening. Now it has been reduced to $300.

Thirdly, they used to have a $T builder SnG for 200 pts. That is gone.

And lastly, a number of their guaranteed tourney's have had their prize pools reduced by at least 20% if not more while the buy-in's have remained the same. Basically, Bodog is cutting back on everything that made it attractive when compared to the big guys. I guess times must be tough on the Indian reservation because they are cutting costs everywhere.

re: What is up with Bodog? poker

Bodog has cut down to the 2 freerolls and the one 30 point freeroll 3 total.

However the the point free roll is still $500.

Several years back they used to have a daily $1000 freeroll which is un heard of now.

Although they have cut back i haven't found a site that has larger daily freerolls. Please post if you know of any

Actually if you look the 30 pt freeroll is only $300 with $72 going to the winner instead of $120. But you are correct that their freerolls do have the best payouts still. However, I do not like the direction things are headed over there.

I used to play there $1000 freeroll at least a couple times a week(2nd was my best cash), and have noticed them scaling back. Maybe they get less traffic sense the law changes in the US? I know they are one of the few that still takes us, so it seems like they would have more players, but a lot of people are scared to play anywhere whether the site will let them or not. I also miss chasing all the big easily clearable bonus's on countless sites and skins that all disappeared or closed to USA players.

I am a little upset they lowered the pts freeroll prizepool, lucky I cashed one just a few days before they changed it, but it is still a good value, $300 700 players 63 pay, thats still a good freeroll imo.

They must have just changed the bodog pts freeroll within the past week or two. I'm pretty sure that is was 500 a couple weeks ago. Also just saw that the 10k guaranteed $10 buyin on sundays is gone too. Played in this a few times before cashed once. Guess they must be running out of money. Wouldn't be surprised to see the other freerolls drop in the future.

They changed everything, I am real upset, Bodog was always special to me, I liked the setup and the guaruntees, I made some good money there, now its crap they took away any meaningfull guaruntee . My days playing there are done and it sucks, used to be my favorite site but they have literally taken away any logical reason to put money in there other than pokerstars and fulltilt. I could understand a cut back or two but not everything

Bodog still is my site for now though they are truely cutting back sad thing to see. After checking out the big two sites recently they definitely have many tourneys and software features that beat out bodoglife. For now though I will be sticking it out mainly cause I don't want to open another account. But I truely hope they start adding something new to the site.

re: What is up with Bodog? poker

I think the bottom line is that they were losing money on a lot of their Guaranteed MTTs. If you have watched over time, you noticed that they did not meet the guaranteed prize fund in buy-ins quite often in the past. Obviously they are trying to decrease how much money they were paying out in some of those particular events.
Their changes have definitely impacted the number of people floating around the site though. I guess the best we can hope is that they notice that and pump the tourneys back up a little in the future.
In the meantime, the beginner SNGs and low buy-in MTTs, as well as the $10NL tables are all still pretty attractive.

Cutbacks

Yeah, Bodog has cut back substantially the last few months to come more in line with their shrinking player base, it's too bad. They had large scale staff layoffs as well.

It all started with payment processor trouble they had a couple years ago. It caused delays in their payoffs and that pissed off a lot of people. They were never able to recover their market share after that.

In their defense, I've never heard of someone not getting paid, and the delays are long a thing of the past. They have been excellent with their payouts the last year or so. Sadly, I guess it was a little too late as a lot of players had already moved on.
