Weekend With Negreanu on Stars

PokerStars is having a contest where the winners get a weekend poker package in Vegas, including a personal lesson from Daniel Negranu and a BBQ and Negreanu's house.

Man, I'd love to win that.

I won't be playing though, as I won't be able to make the final should I qualify.

Daniel has a lot of time on his hands after he busted out of WSOP main event on the first day.

Really cool prize package.

honestly man, I was thinking If I won it, to try and sell the ticket, but like I stated I doubt I would actually win, the players in those things are so aggressive it's not even funny, I'm just trying to place 2nd in it, so that way I get money, and don't have to hear the wife "u off playing and having fun with Daniel while I'm here taking care of your kids" and stuff like that, hahaha, that's the honest trueth, but I'll most definatley tell all about it if I place

I see nothing in that link that says you have to be Canadian.
And when I looked at the games on PokerStars I didn't see any Canadian stipulation.

Daniel knows how to have fun, so I think he'd be great to hand out with in Vegas. I read his blog, so going to his place and playing pool or Golden Tee would be really cool to actually *do* instead of just reading about.

He's a vegan now, but I know from one if his videos that he has a grill for meat eaters. So the BBQ should be good.

The Weekend With Daniel takes place August 8 - 10, 2008. This incredible poker promotion is open exclusively to new and existing PokerStars players from the United States and Canada.

so I guess it's for both US and Canada then

You beat me to it, SP. Was gonna post about this later today.

I SO WANT TO WIN THIS!!! You have to satellite into the final. I played the $5 satellite yesterday, and truthfully, the play wasn't as aggressive as I thought it would be. People seemed to want to win it. Could be a different story with the FPP satellite.

I'm going to try again today, if I have the time.

You’re invited to a Weekend With Daniel!

PokerStars is giving all our Canadian players the chance to have exclusive poker lessons from Team PokerStars Pro member Daniel Negreanu, with our Weekend With Daniel competition!

The weekend includes a trip to Las Vegas, where you’ll get to stay at the Venetian Hotel and party poker with the man himself in true VIP style. Daniel will also invite you to his Vegas home, to teach you the skills you need to make it as a poker champion. The prize package is worth $17,000 in total!

This incredible free poker promotion is only open to Daniel’s fellow Canadian countrymen, and takes place August 8-10, 2008.

Here’s what you have to do:

Each Canadian PokerStars player can enter one (1) Weekend With Daniel free Round 1 tournament. Your free entry can be used at any time during the promotion, but you can only enter once. No special ticket required, simply open the PokerStars lobby and register for the event of your choice.

We’ll be holding daily WWD Round 1 freerolls from June 21-July 25. Players that finish in the top 1,000 will go through to our WWD Round 2 tournament.

The Round 2 freerolls take place every Saturday, made up of the week’s Round 1 winners. Finish in the top 1,000 and you’ll go through to the Grand Final on July 27.

The Grand Final winner will walk away with the Weekend With Daniel prize package:
  • 3 nights Hotel accommodation at the Venetian in Las Vegas
  • Poker lessons from Daniel Negreanu at his Las Vegas home
  • Entertainment and the VIP Vegas experience
  • $2,000 for travel expenses
Schedule:
  • WWD Round 1 freerolls: June 21–July 25, daily at 8:15 PM (ET). Each Canadian PokerStars player can only enter one Round 1 freeroll.
  • WWD Round 2 tournaments: Every Saturday from June 28 – July 26 at 5:15 PM (ET).
  • WWD Grand Final: Sunday July 27 at 5:15 PM (ET).
Remember, there is only one free entry for each Canadian PokerStars player, so bring your A-game. Go Canada!
If you have any comments or queries, feel free to contact us support@pokerstars.net.

Like I had stated I didn't know that U.S players can also enter this, but I just used the Free ticket to make it to the finals

In the commercials they say you would get to play golf with him, that would be awesome I think but apparently that's not part of the trip. Dirty liars.

But I'm not 21 so I wouldn't be able to go anyway

SeanJ, the promotion your thinking about is a different one there also holding at the same time, played in that one for 1 hand, since I totally forgot the date of the tourney, and went out in that one hand that I played in

Well I did the 10fpp one and made it to Saturday and then on Saturday I made it to the Fpp Final on the 27th, I'm also goin to enter the FR one and the 5$ events...just to make sure

I have a little story about Daniel, when meeting him last week. He was signing autographs and taking pics, so he says to one of the ppl there, "I want a couple of slices of bread, no butter nothing on them" The guy looks at him and says but I don't think we have any but I'll go and look. He comes back and says to Daniel we only have peanuts, chips and sandwiches. Daniel looks back at him and says you have sandwiches so you must have bread the guy says no and you could see his face getting red from embarrassment and he told Daniel they had them brought in pre-made. They just stared at each other for a moment and the guy says..."I'll go get you some" I was there another hr, and I never seen any bread coming to him, but what I liked about him was he didn't get flustered over the situation and went on smiling and cracking jokes.

I'll be at all 3 FT's to these events Besides I can't let juicee get her mod paws all over him I'll send you pics Tammy

Made it to the final on the 27th

Let's keep each other updated on Sunday July 27th on how we are doing. Qualifying for the CCers should be as easy as falling off a log.

Well I've accomplished 2 outta 3 final tables so far. had to play 2 satellites for the FPP and 2 for the FR one...I've reached the Final in both.

Now for the 3rd one its a 5$ buy in and I just realized that all 3 games are on the 27th at the same time Sure I can manage it, but do I really want to. I'm thinking I should concentrate on my two I'm in.

Aloe, I'm not sure I understand this competition. What have you done and what do you have left to do? You tried 2 FR and 2 satellites and made a FT in one of each (how many people)? These got you to 2 of the 3 finals and the other is $5 entry at the same time, right? Anyway, it seems you are doing really well. Congratulations and good luck the rest of the way.

There is 3 games throughout the week, one is a 10 fpp Canada and US, one is a FR for Canadians only and one is a 5$ buy in(not sure whats required as I haven't played it) You have to go threw levels I played the 10 fpp and FR qualifiers and after qualifying had to wait till Saturdays to play the Semi' Finals. From there you move on to the FINALS on July 27th..all categories being played at the same time. I've made it too two of the event's it has only cost me 10 fpp points. I'm not going to bother entering the 5$ event to qualify for the game the same day and same time.

OK, so you had to go through levels in both, wow. The freeroll has quite a prizepool without the grand prize, and the other could be a nice return on 10 fpp . I'll have to rail these.

I believe the freerolls are only open to Canadians, but the pay to play are open to Canada and the US. The finals pays out pretty good even if you don't win. The payouts start at 600 and pays $50, not huge but not too bad for a freeroll, and the final table payouts range from $150-$2000.
