Victor Chandler $10 Free

I was scanning usenet newsgroups--yes, I'm a dorck -- and found one allegedly devoted to casino token purchase and sale. It contains nothing except poker site ads, but one said Victor Chandler is giving players a free $10 bankroll for merely opening a real money account. So I read the fine print and there was a prominently indicated raked hand restriction on cashouts but apparently no other restrictions or conditions. I signed up and opened a cash account, which only required providing basic personal information. I was never asked to do anything such as enter financial information or fax a copy of my driver's licence, which other sites do require. I discovered fine print that states the $10 credit can take up to 72 hours to process, but mine took about 36, and I was notified of it at the logon screen.

So far all I've done is play one 50c+5c sng to test-drive the site. The interface is clean and, to me, appealing, but I really don't like avatars or the fancy PKR graphics. The sound scheme could use improvement because it has those silly voices some poker sites used to use, and I've had some trouble adjusting dealer chat level to where I want it, but those are minor annoyances. At my 6-seater sng table the play level ranged from inept to good, and five of the players were friendly and chatty. Most importantly, after over half an hour of play I had no impression whatsoever that the shuffle-and-deal software is buggy or dishonest. Even the bad beat that knocked me out _felt_ like something that could have happened at any live table.

If you're like me, which means starting with a general history of failure and content to grind it out at 50c and some $1 tourneys on a $10 bankroll, Vic Chandler is highly recommended. A totally free BR is hard to beat.

Yeah I took $10 from there, ground it $60 and moved it to Stars.

I must say though the site is pretty cool with decent traffic. I just didn't like the sliding bet thing.

I avoid casino games for a reason.

Schatz, what strategy did you use to raise your $10 to $60, and how long did it take; if you don't mind sharing?

Posting this here to avoid starting too many new threads. I'm disabled and on an extremely modest fixed income, so this free $10 gives me a chance to play for real money without cutting into my main budget. If I can build my BR that's great, but at the very least I want the money to last long enough so I don't feel cheated. I know enough to stay away from ring games for the time being and to stick mostly to the 50c+5c sngs, but how do I spice up my online poker experience so I don't get sick and tired of the poker equivalent of macaroni and cheese all the time? All suggestions welcome.

I ground it up by playing the SnG's. Started with the 50c ones then the $1 ones. So I played loads of those and then played ring games massively underolled. It was just an experiment really.

Kinkikos, you'll get lots of value for your $10 playing the 50c games. Not too sure how to avoid the boredom.

I just discovered that they give you a $25 rake bonus that appears to be free of deposit restrictions. I have until December 12 to clear my bonus by accumulating 1,500 "action points," which means I'd only have to play one 35c+7c tournament per day, if such existed. So far I'm limiting myself to the 10c+2c and 20c+4c tourneys and need some combination of those that adds up to 40c+8c each day. Right now I'm 1 for 6 and down 60c in about a day and a half, which translates into losses of about $12 by December 12th. So, unless my record improves, it'll be a close thing.

There are also freerolls and quasi-freerolls you can enter for "action points." I like this site so far.

I just realized I made an arithmetical error. To accumulate 1,500 points in 43 days I need about 35 a day, which at 50 to the dollar means 70c in tourney fees a day. That means seven 50c+10c tourneys a day. Pretty stiff for my purposes.

Yeah, the $25 bonus is a bit difficult to achieve with only the $10 and personally I'd forget about it. It looks like a stick to get you to give your $10 back and then deposit on the site.
