The UB superuser scandal is still ongoing

The UB Scandal Continues - Two Plus Two Poker Forum

'Condensed' summary at Two Plus Two Poker Forum - View Single Post - The UB Scandal Continues

Just when things seemed to be quietening, it seems the rabbit hole goes even deeper. I really don't know how any of you can trust Ultimatebet enough to keep money there.

UltimateBetUltimateBet are one of the older rooms on the internet with a great range of games to play and a 111% bonus using the bonus code CARDSCHAT.

Absolute PokerAbsolute Poker Referral Code CCHAT will get you a 100% up to $500 bonus at AbsolutePoker.com.

I'm glad for the condensed version!

Maybe it doesn't quiet down 'cause there's just more that has been going on that keeps getting found.

You'd think with the first incident at Absolue poker sites would take some pre-emptory review of their stuff to make sure they find anything before anyone else does. But I guess that doesn't apply if one of the owners is involved.

All I can say to this is wow. I was going to re-download Ultimatebet as I deleted it and others from my computer to free up space. Reading this just changed my mind. This kind of thing is bad for the whole online poker community. Very sad to think that kind of cheating could be going on but I guess where there is money involved it will happen.

I know it's tough, but I really want to give them a chance to clean this up. On the customer side (us players), the trust factor is huge. I guess I'm kinda stuck.

Can we ever trust the staff at U.B again? Maybe or maybe not. But I sure hope so. I think it would be really good for the online poker industry if we could someday.

I'm glad I didn't start playing at Ultimate...that whole thing would have turned me off to poker.

I emptied my Ultimatebet account months ago. I relented to play in 2 CC tournies, plus Ultimatebet gave a free 10 spot. I spent it, I'm done.

At this point, I officially agree with Rob, it's time CC took a firm stand on this issue.

re: The UB superuser scandal is still ongoing

At first, I thought that this situation was too bad for the new owners, as they bought into something that wasn't what it seemed. But surely they are now the ones doing the shoddy investigating. Sounds like the original owners were corrupt, and the new ones are simply inept.

I can't imagine anyone putting new money into Ultimatebet after this. It's gonna be a black mark on the pokerstars who attached their name to it was well.

Is there some where I can read how they cheated besides what is listed above. Did they just launder money or were they able to see other player's cards or know what cards were going to be dealt. What exactly happened . I play on Ultimatebet (just small amounts) but I still don't want to be cheated. Thanks

Putting "ultimatebet scandal" into Google nets a lot of relevant results.

The more I read about this scandal, the more I am sickened.

If I thought removing UltimateBet from Cardschat would serve any purpose, I would do it in a heartbeat. The problem lies with the people who used to be involved with UltimateBet, who are long gone. They are the people responsible for this whole mess. Trying to go against the company now is near-pointless. I have met many people who work for Ultimate Bet now and they have assured me the site is as safe as a poker site could get. The company is trying to do it's very best to come back from this mess, even while new details about the scandal are still coming out. They are in a tough place, but I'm not sure they should be the ones taking the fall for others' disgraceful practices.

I've been watching the story over the months about Absolute and Ultimatebet. I withdrew from Absolute as I didn't like the site anyhow and I continued being a member of Ultimatebet. I've been with Ultimatebet now for at least 2yrs and never had a problem with the site, with cashing out, depositing, transfers etc. Sometimes customer support is a bit slow but actually Ultimatebet has funded my Tilt and Stars account as I can only seem to do well there and take the winnings and transfer to tilt and pokerstars where I get sucked out on all the time

I can understand the concerns of many members but I'm sure that the site is probably being more cautious now in light of the facts being presented to us. Until I see some new revelations about Ultimatebet I'll prob stay there, I enjoy our weekly CC events and I'm liking the new structure.

A good thing??

Txs for the update DM, it doesn't go much further than what we already know, some more names and dates, but the basic root of this nefariousness has been pulled.

I still play Ultimatebet, but nowhere near those limits, and only in games other than holdem, so I was not affected by this. At both Absolute Poker and Ultimatebet I play more complex games like HORSE, stud HL etc., at lo to micro, so scammers are not too interested in me. For holdem and higher limits I stick to the bigger sites for now.

I think both Absolute Poker and Ultimatebet can pull through this, and sites in general will get tighter with security as a result of what happened...

I have seen posts in other places from a few people I respect (Nat Arem and brsavage to name a couple) stating that they firmly believe that Ultimatebet's 'new management' is not involved in the scandal and is committed to moving forward.

The problem I have with this is that the information that has come to light over the last few days at best proves that the 'new management' aren't disclosing everything that has happened in the past to us. If one is to assume they aren't involved in the scandal at all (and indeed if one is to assume that the 'new management' and the 'old management' aren't the same people operating through shell companies), I'm somewhat bemused as to their reasons for not providing full disclosure.

I agree it would be silly to make a big decision while things are still 'up in the air', so to speak. I expect more juicy news to come to light from/involving Ultimatebet in the next few days though.

Damn - it's the only site I am kicking butt at lol. I have won almost $300 there in the past 4 weeks - that is a lot for me!

I am staying for now - and like April I am enjoying the Cardschat games we have every week there.

I guess once the smoke and mirrors dissipate....Ultimatebet might become a bit more transparent - not holding my breath though - they are afterall poker players as well....not 100% truthfull at all times ? LOL

Speaking of throwing in a Red Herring...nice distraction having Phil ride into dodge in army gear - was that a subliminal message? LOL

I'll keep playing on Ultimatebet - only because of the CC games - I rarely play there at any other time unless I want a warm-up match prior to our tournies. I enjoy our tournies immensely - so much to learn from fellow members...so little time....LOL

Cheers all and good luck wherever you play

The Ultimatebet superuser scandal is still ongoing

Isn't the thread title a little redundant, not to mention the thread?

DM your suspicions and distrust do me proud, keep it up, you may be paranoid but that doesn't mean you are wrong. We should scrutinize every site, rumour and goings on as much as we can, communities like this can let scammers know that someone is watching.

Personally I see nothing wrong with Ultimatebet now. Sure there were problems in the past but from what I can tell the problems have been addressed as best as they can be by new ownership and management.

What I do find suspicious are the sites that bring up all these items, if you read more of what's on there they are pretty much shills for Pokerstars and to a lesser extent Full Tilt. So they have a vested interest in keeping all this going so they preferred sites don't lose customers.

I'm sure those same people who anticipate the 60 minutes story with such breathless anticipation will be the first ones howling when the government makes the ISP's block the servers for all the online poker sites. After all, every site has had some problems, whether superuser, collusion or whatever, there are problems for every single site and even now they can't prevent cheating from occuring.

To the average American watching the 60 Minutes interview, they won't differentiate between collusion on Stars or FT and the UP/Absolute Poker problems.

My compromise will be that I will not allow my freeroll started br to exceed $1000.

Should Absolute Poker want my business back by offering me an unfettered $100 stake, I would offer them the same compromise.
