| I'm not really sure what your looking for in response but here's my impression of what your looking for. If you're new to playing online, go slow you need to find your comfort level. How much are you willing to lose? How much can you afford to lose? You need to ask yourself these two questions honestly and set your limits and stick to it. No need to give us the answers to these, it's for your comfort level, be realistic and play with only what you can afford. #1. Research and develop a bankroll management discipline that works for you, keep records, a poker journal so you can keep track of how your doing and make adjustments to your game if necessary. Example; I never buy in a cash game, SNG or MTT with more than 10% of my bankroll. If I play a cash game I might rebuy once, twice if I think I can beat the game but if I'm losing I quit. If I win 25% the total of my bankroll I leave the game and re-enter with the max of 10% of my bankroll at another table. Bankroll management and keeping good records are a MUST. Example; Again using myself, my records show that I am a winning tournament player. If I only played tournaments I would be in the black, totally on the positive side of my ledger. However I am now showing improvement in my cash games, it's a slow grind but I am consistently gaining on lost ground. Negative swings can really effect your cash game play radically so you need to watch it carefully... (at least I do) Online you can play anything from freerolls , 1 dollar, 2 dollar, 5 dollar to 200 dollar tournaments and up. Once you find your comfort level, bankroll management scheme, your journal over time will tell you your strengths and weakness's. Then you can decide to roll with your strengths or work on your weakness's. From my personal observations good tournament players cash aprox just less than 20% of the games they play. They final table aprox 3% and 1st place 1% of the time. This can give you a rough guideline or goal to reach for. Cash games your journal will either be in the positive or the negative, pay attention and take notice of the trends .. positive or negative. Your getting it right or you need to quit for a while and reflect or study. Even masters of the game have to do this, be realistic and honest with yourself, stay disciplined and within your bankroll management. You asked for advice Good Luck |
