Tournament Structure.
Just looking for a wise word or two again. The buddy is organising a christmas home game this week and I'm just wondering what people think are the best structure for blinds. I don't like the blinds to increase too quickly as I think this increases the luck factor but I also like the idea of having antes to keep people from playing too safe. Any tips or guidelines I should keep in mind? (This is for NL by the way!)

It depends how long you want the game to be and how many chips you want to start off with. Is this a tournament or a ring game? If you want to play for 2+ hours, I would start with very low blinds and double them every half hour. If you want to play for less than 2 hours, double the blinds every 15 minutes.

I have a set up for two tourneys on friday and saturday, they usually have about 50-70 people in each and run about 3.5hrs each tourney
starting chips 1500 blinds start 10/20 change every 20mins, levels are 10/20, 25/50, 50/100, 100/200, 200/400, 400/800, 500/1000 and double from there. I leave out the 20/40, 30/60, 300/600 blinds as it takes to long with them in there.(but that is just these tourneys as we are having two a night and need them to move along at a decent pace) once blinds reach 100/200 a 10min break is called and chips are colored up. g/l |

I run a home game about once a month that has about 10-16 people. I use the same blind structure as trent but do 10 minute blinds since we start out with 5k in chips. We last about 2-3 hours.
