| Tournament Selection for Practice Question 2 weeks from tomorrow I am going to play in a weekly tournament at the new Hollywood in Lawrenceberg, IN. While I've played cash games there with good results a few times, this will be my first tourney. Unlike the other local riverboat tournies I usually play, which are relatively fast (blinds go up every 15 minutes in increments of 25-50, 50-100, 100-200, 150-300) and start with only 2K in chips, this one is different. The buy-in is about the same--$80+$20. The stack size, however, is 5K. Also the blinds go up every 20 minutes in the following increments: 25-50; 50-100; 75-150; 100-200, etc. The payout structure is 10% which they round up. For instance, if there are 61 players 7 get paid, that is until 90. Then they wait until 100 people enter for 10 to get paid. The caliber of players in these weekly Sunday night gigs, as opposed to Saturday nights which can be donkfests, is very good from what I hear. Several of my dealer and semi-pro friends play them routinely. Lat year I had a really decent tourney record and I want to start this year off right. So my question is, are there any online tournaments that roughly replicate this kind of structure that I can play for practice? Preferably on Stars or FT, but UB would be OK too. I'm looking for something with a $5 buy-in, but would go for $10 if the fit is good. Thanks! |

| The only tournament i can think of that is close is the Pokerstars $11 buyin deepstack which starts everyday at noon. 5k starting chips blinds go up 30 minutes start at 10/20,15/30,25/50 and so on. Be prepared to play for a while I played in one and got 6th and was knocked out at 3:30 in the morning. |
