Thoughts on party
I dont really want to start another is online poker rigged thread. But i just cant help but think that something smells at party poker.
When i play cash games i can always within 20 hands or so see if i will have an up or down day, and there is nothing i can do about it. Usually when i have an up day i will have a slighly bigger down day the very next day. This has been going on for about 3 months now, and i realize that any number of explanations for this exists. For example that i am not a strong player. In a tourney situation it has always looked to me that the big stack wins way to often. I have played a good number of sng's and a few freerolls on party poker and have watched or been involved in 100's of all-in situations and it seem to me that the big stack wins way to often no matter what cards are dealt. I recently got Poker office, and examining my albeit small database actually confirms my "feeling" I have thought alot about it and come to the conclusion that my "feeling" and small database is no way near enough to draw any other conclusion then that its proberbly ok. Just the same, in order to rid myself of the nagging doubt i quit party poker last week. Then today i happened to talk to a guy about just this, and he said several interesting things. He had his info from a guy he knew who worked at party, and i must stretch that this is hear say at best. He said that the software favor's the weaker players. The reason for this should be that if a weak player just loose and loose he is not prone to redeposit. On the other hand if the weak player have winning sessions and over time loose what amounts to the rake he will have the feeling that he is close to becoming a winning player and thus will invest more money. Simular in a tourney situation it makes good business sense for the poker site to get rid of the short stacked players, cause they will then go pay the entry fee for another tourney that much faster. He also told me that a gambling club he is a member of actually had kept track of the all-in results in 500+ touneys. According to him the big stack won 82% of the time, if this is true then that should not be. Having said all that i really dont know, just have to share so please dont come down to hard on me P.S. I now play on Titan and pokerstars and steadaly loosing, so seems fine to me ![]() |

When I played on Party earlier this year I found it really juicee, the standard of play is incredibly weak. If I ever decide to leave Stars full time then I would certainly go to Party again.
I'm not sure about the credibility of the stats concerning the big stack winning 82% of the time. Maybe over that particular sample the big stack had the best hand pf . Anyways 500 as a sample seems to be pretty small tbh. If you don't feel particularly comfortable with a particular site then it's fine moving on until you do. |
