table balancing

Have you noticed that the MTT table balancing at the sites seems to be a little whacked. Say for instance, you and 2 others are allin on a nice size pot. You win and are chip leader at your table. You are then removed from your table were it is an advantage for you to a table were you are now at the average chip count at the table.
I don't know what decides this. But I really think this sucks.

Yea it can be extremly frustrating. I was moved a grand total of 11 times at full tilt over the weekend. Almost impossible to get any reads on players because you dont get to see enough hands to get any. Bubbled that one as well

yeah i agree to. it seems it is always time to balance tables when i have the chip advantage or when you finally learn enough about the other players game to beat them at their own game

I've been moved on 4 consecutive hands before (and not been able to play any of them). Worst thing is when you keep getting shoved in front of the blinds towards the end

It usually works out nicely for me, I find myself short a lot then moved to a table where I'm about average

I don't think it's luck. What I am saying is the sites do this as part of their table balancing. Chip counts and players at a table too.

Does this happen at live tables, I wonder?

really good question there bbb. i am not sure i think it depends on where you are playing and how deadly serious the players are there.

I dont like being moved in MTT`s, you just get to know how the players are playing and they move you, but its part of the game to keep the tables balanced, >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.. buck

Can't speak to online play as I've never actually seen the algorithms for balancing the tables, but it is supposed to be unbiased. So you should end up at tables based on a formula considering what table you were at, where you need to go, seat position, etc...but it shouldn't be looking at your chip count or placing you based on this or anything of the sort (like intentionally placing you in front of the blinds several times in a row. Of course, just like poker hands, it does happen. In live play, tournament rules are very clear that balancing will occur, when it happens, and how they move players. If you want the exact house policy, just ask them. It isn't a secret. Also, while the tournament director will try to move you fairly to a similar seat position (relative to the button) at the new table, you are required to take the new seat regardless of benefit or drawback (such as landing on the button seat or in the BB). This is how it is supposed to work online as well...unbiased moving. If the moves aren't unbiased, then the edge you build up (in terms of stack size) by superior play (and the occasional luck) is negated by the poker site which would then be them altering the randomness of the situation, which would be akin to riggedednousness...
