| Strange finishes I've noticed in the past a pretty weird pattern in my game. Though I've heard the numerous "online is rigged" type arguments, and random patterns that people find similar to mine, I'm almost sure this is a psychological thing for me. Whenever I play a certain game ($35 6-seater SnG or 1$/$2 ring or $5 9-seater SnG etc etc), I always - stress on always - go on a nice winning streak. When I started moving up from $10 to $20 and $30 SnGs at Titan, I went on a very profitable winstreak in which I placed in more than half of my games entered, and placed 1st out of most of those. In the $35 SnGs at PS, I was doing really well at first: 1st place in 2 of the first 5 I entered, and 3 games ITM out of those 5. All downhill from there. I've actually gone on a crazy losing streak (0-10 I think?) and am taking an extended break from them. I think I both lost confidence, and got bored with them (I have slight ADD, and am very impatient sometimes. This results in playing too many hands that I shouldn't be). Then two days ago I moved to the $5 9-seaters, and haven't not placed in the money in the first 4 games I've played. 3 of the 4 I've placed 1st in. Also in cash games, I often play really well for the first week of sessions, then go downhill from there. My only guess as to why this happens is because I play a different game my first few games, and start to get impatient/bored with that certain game and play poorly. Anyways, just something I thought I'd share because I found it pretty strange, but I've now decided to switch up my games every once in a while to keep a nice mix going and keep me entertained. Anyone else experience anything like this? |

| Yup, probably a combination of overconfidence & boredom. I know a little about ADD as my daughter & a couple of other family members have dealt with it to various degrees & your analysis seems spot on. Switching games & levels as well as sights on which I play works for me usually. Still get those runs of bad cards & bad luck & baad decisions that are part of the game though. One thing I would suggest Chuck is when you just can't get out of the losing rut come play in the Titan buyins instead of taking a few days off. Probably won't help end your losing streak but I could use the money. |
