Stars n Bars poker
Okay, this is a question aimed at a very small audience, so please bear with me if you're not part of the geographic area this covers. There's a company that puts on NL Holdem tourneys in bars and restaurants in quite a few venues in various areas, including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and New York.
Has anyone on here ever attended one of their games? I realize it's probably a long shot that anyone here is in the right area to have done so but just on the off chance, if you've been to a game of theirs how is it run? The site says it's free to play, I suppose they get some type of kickback from the restaurant or bar depending on food and beverage sales. |

I live in Columbus Ga. We have poker tournaments everynight somewhere in this town. There are about 80-100 people who are regular players.
You go in, write your name on the sign up sheet and they assign you a table. It's completely free to play and the 1st prize is usually $100. They make their money with the food/drinks we buy. If you spend a certain amount of money, (I think it's $10) you get a voucher for an extra chip worth $1000. As people are out, the tables are condensed until there's the final table. I think the name of the organization that runs these events is Nationwide poker tour or Extreme poker. If you finish in the top 20 players, you get a certain amount of points. Every quarter they have a big tournament for the people with the most amount of points. They give away money, tv's etc.... Not sure how your place does it, but I'd bet it's similar. |
