re: Stars guinness world record tourney poker

I'm registered for the PS one and will most likely register for the FT.

Should be intresting. PS threw this together on short notice (3 days out) but they are doing $1.

FT has been promoting theirs but they are doing a $5 tourney.

I'll put my money on PS.

Yeah, FT has been choppy at best since their last update. It boggles my mind why they would want to crap out their servers with a record attempt, when they should be working hard to resolve issues they created with their client.

PS has done it before and continually proven that they have the server capacity to handle things like this.

Next they will each hold the worlds biggest freeroll for a record...... Except it would go like this:
FT Worlds Biggest Freeroll Total Prize Pool $1,000
PS Worlds Biggest Freeroll Total Prize Pool $100,000

Uh, yeah more likely other way around. Pokerstars has the $1k 50k entrant, FullTilt just had $20k for 30k entrants and the nearly free $5k ftp entries.

I have more respect for Full Tilt because when they offer prizes they actually put the money on the table. Poker Stars is great but to beat 60 000 people in wednesdays $1000 freerolls and then only get payed $30 is lame.
And Full Tilt has a first place prize of $500 in their 5pts tourneys that they are running and you only reall have to beat about 6000 people because half the people arent even there. 200 pts = 1 Dollar. 5pts = 2.5 cents.

When Poker pokerstars can offer a first place of $500 for 2.5 cents then they can compete against Full Tilt in prize money.

re: Stars guinness world record tourney poker

Looks like FullTilt increased the maximum entrants recently - probably due to PS? Now the max is 50,000 with about 35,000 of which 80 or so are the red pros. As far as I could tell, PS doesn't have maximum entrants listed - thought they listed out the max in the previous record breaker last year? Hmm, well I'm registered for the FT one at least.

Typical worthless PS crap. Giving out 1000 seats at a time from freerolls is insane, anyone playing should just go all in until they either get knocked out or get to 15,000 chips. Then sit out until the rest of the sat players exit and maybe try to play against the rest.

Guinness needs to create some rules for this category. For one thing, all entrants to the record attempt should have to pay an entry fee. A reasonable entry fee, otherwise you'd see PS with a .01 tournament. Maybe make it $5 minimum.

Plus the site involved should have to post some specific overlay percentage, with the PS one they could have 100k people sign up so it won't cost them anything in the way of promotions.

When a site offers a $250,000 overlay, that's incentive. When it's PS, it's always going to be garbage.

The FT one was always listed as 50,000 entrants. That's partly because when you try to break a record Guiness won't let you just do 35,001, you have to beat the old record by a certain percentage.

Didn't realize that the FT one was 50,000 from the start. My friend told me thought that the max entrants had increased since he first checked. That's what I get for listening to someone who rarely plays online!

re: Stars guinness world record tourney poker

I wish they competed by lowering the rake and seeing how low each site would go. But it may be fun to see which site server crashes from trying run a tourney this big on the highest traffic day for online poker.
