Sportsbook won't let me play!

Tried to d/l Sportsbook poker today, but it's another site that accepts U.S. players, but won't allow players from Missouri or D.C.

I asked them why and they told me because of "site restrictions". Does anyone know what these site restrictions are? I bet it's because we Missourians just rock the tables too hard, imho!

Most of these restrictions by state are due to legislation passed by the individual states. Kentucky was recently added to many 'no play' lists because of the governor's attempts to steal their domain names and I think I've heard of about 11 different states on various 'no play' lists on different gaming sites.

In some cases, states have pressured the ISP operators to block access to known gaming sites. Sites elect to honor some state laws to avoid the kind of actions that happened to Party Gaming and the resulting, what, 300 million dollar fine? Imagine sending a site rep or players under your banner to New Orleans for a big Tourney event and having them arrested under an extradition warrant to Missouri on (bogus) felony charges ....

Some sites will risk it and are willing to take the approach that it is the PLAYER responsibility, not the site operator and may be willing to defend that position. Others don't want the potential headache. It could even get worse as many states show huge deficit budgets and see the massive profits being made by offshore gaming sites.

Well, thankfully, I never plan on repping UB, or any other site for that matter, at the WSOP.

But that makes sense as to why they would not want me to join! LOL
