So Today I Tried A Different Game Last week I talked about wanting to learn how to play Omaha 8 HL. I got some good advice, and tonight I decided to give the game a try. I deposited $20 on Titan and played in a $1.1 SnG. At first, I made a few mental errors, forgetting that you can only use 2 of your hole cards to make your hand, and I dropped down to about 250 chips within the first 5 hands. Then I scrolled up and realized what mistakes I was making, and it was on from there. From that point on, I tightened up my game and came back. By the time 2 opponents were knocked out, I was back to 1000 chips. Then came the bubble play, and I hit a run of crappy cards, dropping me back down below 500 chips. So I had to play aggressive again, and did that ever pay off. I jumped back up and into the chip lead within the next 10 hands. I played tight until I hit the money, and then I played heads up for about 20 minutes with my final opponent. We went back and forth. In the end, I won the SnG, and felt pretty darn good about myself. Thanks everyone for encouraging me to play this game. It's a lot different than NL, but a lot of the same techniques still apply. Your advice definately propelled me to this first place finish. Thanks.

The $1 SnGs on Titan do have some pretty soft competition for Omaha H/L - like players who think raising with every hand is a good strategy... then again I saw that kind of play from a couple of players at the $6 O H/L MTT on Party last night, so maybe it's just cheap O H/L tourneys generally I definitely recommend sticking with it - I've found it way more profitable than Holdem, with less bad sessions, too.

Yeah, the nicest thing in PLO8 is when you have the nut high hand, and someone with a lonely A2 just can't let go of their low draw... and gives you all their chips because they don't want to abandon the money they've already put into the pot.

Good result and i also have just started on the Omaha h/l route as well as PL Omaha and can find them sometimes more enjoyable. I often play on Pokerstars $3 sng and more often than not finish in the top handfull. Omaha helps me be more aware of my options which can only help in other games i think. Good luck & have fun IanT
