So far Bodog is Biting the Big One...

I just signed up on Bodog to trial run it, and so far the process has been amazingly difficult. First of all, just to be able to view the tables, I was bombarded by messsages to deposit. By that I mean, every button I clicked took me to deposit page. Finally I clicked one and got a message to choose my currancy, which I did and it finally stopped pestering me for cash deposit.

When I did try to view tourney lobby afterwards, I got a pop-up telling me to restart. Once I did that I was finally able to browse. I found a free roll, entered, and was dealt pocket rockets for my 1st hand! Wow! But of course they were cracked by a 10/5 off suit with the 10 rivering me. (I was all-in on the turn) 1st hand in 1st tourney elimination.....very ominous.

I also question the tourney listings. I saw another Free-roll for later in the day and wanted to enter, but it disappeared from the list. Should've been on @ 7:05 with registration opening @ 5:05. I checked back around 4:45, & it was gone! I checked every single tab and no luck!

There was also one listed for 9:40 w/ reg opening @7:40. Same thing happened! @ 7:20 it was in the list, but @7:40 -gone. I just so happened to still have the tourney lobby open in my pane and was able to register from there.

Am I doing something wrong or am I just having a "blonde moment"? I'm not new to online poker, have used and understood many a site, but this one is really irritating me with the freeroll cat-n-mouse! I was amazed at the fact that I was able to enter the first freeroll! I even had the thought that they must be filling super-quick, but I was there a few mins Before the tourney was open for registration.

If anyone else plays there and has an tips that could make my play a little smoother, they would be more than welcome

Bodog freerolls dont fill like Full Tilt and Poker Stars. They do fill up. but they are open for a couple hours prior.

I played bodog for quite a while. I got tired of their "dealer" and the "randomness" of the shuffle.

The only problem I had with their software is while having more than open table open at a time I could hear the sound effects from all the tables at once. I mean the sounds of the chips, etc.

Bodog yuck!

I downloaded Bodog a year or so ago, but have avoided it for the most part because the navigation is difficult, and much of the basic functionality is difficult to find or is not there. You can't re-size the windows. You can't load the hand histories to your hard drive. The font size is difficult to read. You can't check your status/position/rank in MTT's. And the instant hand history took a long time to find. (Hint: Click Prev # on the Game Play tab, under Game Details.)
Another forum that I am on just started having freerolls there, and the forum is filled with messages about how difficult Bodog is.
Some members have reported that their accounts have been disabled, or that they have received messages indicating that they need to make a deposit. Another player said he got a call from them asking about his experience there.
I wonder if they are struggling to bring in new business?
I now have a little bit of money on there from some freeroll cashes, so I may begin to play there more often; but it will be with a bit of hesitation.

I actually don't mind Bodog. It's not the best by far, but it does have some positive points. I know of 2 freerolls on Bodog, the 2:40 PM EST and the 9:40 PM EST. That's a lot fewer then other sites but these are $500 and $1000 not $25 and $50 like other sites. I haven't tried it since Neteller left the US but you used to be able to clear your deposit bonus playing at the play money tables. Most sites it's hard to clear it at the low limit tables.

On the other side I agree with some of the points already made. The tables only have 2 sizes and I hate not being able to see my standing in a MTT.

It is possible, next time I'm playing in a tourney there I can post how, but there are three tabs over on the right, one gives you the standard chat, another tells you all the tournament info including what position you are in and allowing you to check out all the other tables, and a third tab gives you player profiles, IIRC.

I am not a person who fusses much about interface, so I think Bodog is okay.

My bankroll there has been pretty interesting. I made a small deposit and won or placed in some private tournaments. The bankroll looked great. And then ... someone spiked a one-outer King on the river in $1/2 NL ($200 Max) and took most of my bankroll.

I then hit a streak of hot cards at fishy tables and my bankroll grew to over four figures, until ... someone spiked a two-outer King on the river to put a major dent in my roll.

So ... it is hard for me to complain, but the river losses sure hurt ...

I can understand why it would be so interesting if you lose your whole BR in one buyin your BR management is all wrong....maybe you should check some things out in CC about BR mnagement if this is still occuring.....if not then gl at bodog

So you would prefer not to have a dealer or a random cards. So basically you would prefer if player picked their cards at the start of every hand, then before any action is taken, all community cards are flipped face up, then pre flop play begins?

I think I played at one of those tables, but since I haven't made a deposit, that feature wasn't available to me - just the other players ...

Seriously, I did download it the other day and am not impressed. Took me a while to get in and even had to call support when it wouldn't let me in. Kept giving me an error box with instructions to call support with the error code. I am finding it hard to navigate and the sounds are hilarious. The deal sounds like a wind up Chinese toy, reminds me of the bouncing penis or bouncing boobs you find in joke stores.

Every new site has it's uniqueness, so I'll keep playing there for a while, but will watch with great interest the developments re: the cashout problems.

I read some about this in other threads, it really makes me hesitant to deposit! A friend of mine cashed out for 10G there almost a year ago...took him 4 months to finally get the $. He didn't have a bounced check issue, they just keep telling him - 2 more weeks!
