So Close and Yet So Far...

Well, I thought I was going to qualify after playing for almost 5 hours but alas I fell short. I know this isn't much of an achievement but it's the farthest I've ever gone in one of these tournaments. 27 players qualify and I ended up with 46th place.

Way to go Man. I have never placed so well in one of those freerolls. I had only seen one person I know make it to round 2 and they lost pretty quickly.

Wasn't it top 40 qualify at one point? I remember makeing it to round 2 about a year ago, I didnt place in it though. Sure is a rush to make it that far though.

How many players play in the round 2 game? I've never understood why 9,000+ people would register for a game where you'd have to play for 5 hours and not get a monetary prize at the end of it. Nice going, but you'd have cashed in on 95% of sites with a similar performance, surely?

I've actually qualified in two of those at Pokerstars where I got about 20th place (once I made top 27 I just didn't care), although the fields weren't quite as huge. They were something like 6k and 8k. That was after a lot of attempts though... it's not exactly the most fun or rewarding poker you'll ever play, and even making it into the top 100 is quite the achievement.

And then, it's funny, I actually got FIRST (not that I won anything special for it) in one of those, on a Limit Stud Freeroll. I never ever play Stud, it was the first I'd played it on PokerStars, and I generally didn't feel like I knew what I was doing, so it was really odd.

I feel your pain...I've come very close a couple times also. 30th was my best . . .After 5 hours and coming so close I wanted to smash my computer into a million tiny pieces...

Not even 9000, but 9383 entrants... Oh my...
You did get SO CLOSE. I think that's the result I could only dream of.
Anyways, there's no reason to feel sorry. Think of it as a real achievement. If you could do THAT once, you can do that once again or even more. Have a good sleep, concentrate on victory and go get them, Tiger

Top 3%. Nice work. If you had been playing in a regular tournament you would have been deep in the money.

This is what I don't understand about Stars. Not to get off topic or anything...but it's one of the nicest sites on the web and doesn't have any 1 rounder free rolls. A couple 100 or $40 ones would be nice everyday. They could still keep the 2 rounders and I think it might drive a lot of people to the site. . especially newcomers. Either that or they could put a limit on the players who enter the free rolls to less than 6k. lol

Well they dont need to - simple as that. You see how quick the SnG's fill up, the income they get must be huge so why do they need to snag Johnny No Cash?
