Should I do Rush Week?

is it that simple to get 10 points a day. Ive been building a br with freerolls and i have $15 now so is it a safe chance i won't lose a lot of money and still earn 5 maybe 10 bucks. Thanks

I wouldn't. 5nl is the lowest you can buy in at rush. the swongs in rush are lol. playing 5nl with 3 buy-ins you could easily drop that in one session. 10 ftp pts is a dollar paid in rake.

I'd say that you should give it a go
I mean, you don't have to play the rush ring game, you could play some MTT's

However.....anybody else download the FTP Rush Mobile App for their phone? I'm running it on the Droid 2 and it's very smooth and pretty cool! You can't deposit yet, however you can play the Rush Games, very easy to navigate. I haven't experienced anything yet in regards to what happens when you receive a phone call or if it even allows one to come in.... I'm only assuming it will put you in the "Sit out" state??

I have ~$140 on Full Tilt and Im not going out of my way for this promo. If my normal game was 5NL rush I would. Being that its not and that the most I could really hope to achieve is $10, while risking way more, I will stay away from this promo. Take 2 was much better for the player with a micro bankroll.

Yeah i agree its a bit too much for your br, but if you wanted you could maybe play a $1 rush tourny and try make the final table for a freeroll ticket.

@ sheesho -You are underfunded to play Rush ring games. But there are MTTs. Just play them when you can and if you happen to meet the number of points, good. Do NOT go out of your way to play. Nothing like chasing a bonus or a promo to get a person in trouble.

I'm doing it because I regularly play Rush ring. And I am funded for it. So it should be a cinch for me to get a little free money. The big bucks, no -- I don't play anywhere near enough to make 1000 points in a day. Some days I struggle to make my 50 points for ironman.

Well the thing is..ive registered which means if i play rush i lose my rake back...i NEED to unregister to ensure my rake backs survival hehe
The more i win on the promo (including if i win freeroll ticket) the less rake i get...i would rather keep my rake you see coz i dont play too much rush.

That's a good thing because his thinking is deeply flawed.

When you have rakeback, the promotions you should avoid are freerolls and tournaments with overlay, since those will be deducted from your MGR, and therefore 27% of the cost will be deducted from your rakeback, even when you don't cash in the tournament. That's a net loss for you.

Bonuses and promotions like rush week, on the other hand, are only deducted from your MGR when you actually get the bonus. So the only effect is that you only get 73% worth of the bonus, but you never ever get less than without participating.

Anyone know how many hands of 5nl Rush it normally takes for 10 points? If it's less than 100 you could actually make a few bucks by folding EVERY HAND and not risk your BR. Figure you'll post both blinds 11 times per 100 hands that means you lose 77 cents per 100 hands. Losing .77 each day for 7 days cost you $5.39. FTP gives you $10 so you gain $4.61.

In order to get 10 points at a FR table, $9 in rake must have been paid at the table, at 5% rake, than means $180 in raked pots (postflop pots). In 100 hands, that would mean an average pot size of $1.8 per hand. I don't play these stakes, but a 36bb average pot would be pretty wild for FR.

The average pot size during the 5NL rush session I played yesterday was 0.47$ ~ probably it is about that size every day.

Your folding theory worked out great for me on Take 2. I folded pretty much everything and got the $25 bonus. I only was minus my $5 buyin on a few of the days so I came out way ahead. I don;t recall the exact number but it was plenty worth it. For this $10 though an it being 10 FTPs a day i am not sure sure it will be worth my time. I may give it a go though. I can deposit if I had to (something I have not done since 2008) but try to avoid that.

I believe that's slightly off because the rake at 5nl is 6.66%, not 5% as it is at low/mid stakes. So you would only actually need $135 in raked pots($1.35/hand). This is still way over the top.

The average pot at 5nl in my experience fluctuates between $0.65 and $0.90, depending on day/time. Over 100k hands I have never seen it below $0.50.

Just did some math. 4 tabling rush FR tables, i play approx. 1150 hands/hour

At 200nl, i get 0.72 ftp/hand, so I need to play 1389 hands = 1h12 to reach 1000 points.

At 100nl, i get 0.5 ftp/hand, so I need to play 2000 hands = 1h45 to reach 1000 points.

At 50nl, i get 0.3 ftp/hand, so I need to play 3333 hands = 2h55 to reach 1000 points.

I don't have the numbers for ftp/hands at lower stakes, and 50nl is based on a somewhat small and old sample.

Historically, these promo's cost us more than we gain. I got lucky for the last promo, and got the bonus and actually increased my bankroll. But I fear these promo's. FullTilt isn't doing these if they don't make them money.

I doubt I will qualify for his bonus as FullTilt is living up to its name and has me on Full Tilt.

I agree with you grafkarow ...that was about the average pot size or even a little smaller when I had played . You win some and you lose some . I would give it a shoot when your bankroll is a little bigger. I myself didn't win all that much on Rush. Good luck in the future when you do play.

full tilt you can make 10 ftps in about 5 minutes in rush poker

just play tight you make ftps even if you fold preflop

Yeah..exactly, so if i recieve a freeroll ticket and don't cash, i lose the money thats deducted from my rake. If the amount of people that win entry is low, then the deduction from rake will be quite high.

Somebody once told me 'its like you're choosing to have rake back instead of promotions/bonuses and freerolls'.

They were wrong. As an example, let's look a $100 bonus when we have RB vs when we don't. For simple math we'll say we need to pay $200 in rake to clear the $100.

Without RB, we clear the bonus and receive $100. Simple, we're $100 richer than without the bonus and we've basically got 50% rb for clearing the bonus ($100 bonus / $200 rake paid).

With RB, we clear the bonus and receive $100. Now $100 is deducted from our MGR and we get RB on the remainder. So we get the $100 bonus + $27 in rb or $127. If we didn't have the bonus we would have received $54 in rb. So we've earned $73 more than we would have without the bonus and our effective RB during the bonus clearing period is 63.5%.

So since $127 > $100 AND 63.5% > 50%, bonuses + rb > bonuses OR rb.

Wait, having rakeback doesn't mean we should avoid those tournaments. All it means is they're not as valuable since we're effectively paying a little more to play them, but unless we're bad tournament players, they're still +EV.

wow .. when do you play ? i've never seen it below .60 at 5nl rush...usually .65-.85

played 1230-1 am est last night --.75 for 545 hands = 25 ftp

so about 220 hands=10 ftp

true, but freerolls is about the only promotion where you can actually loose money since they are not really free for a RB holder but instead cost you 27% of their worth.

Also, I'd much rather get punched in the testicles than play a freeroll to begin with, so the fact they hurt your RB is just yet another reason to avoid those.

Well that's not completely true. Players often play outside their comfort-zone, both stake- and volume-wise, in order to achieve enough points for promos like Rush week.

Obviously if people go for the level that is meant for their stakes, promotions like this are a no brainer and essentially free cash because they would be playing anyway.

I think this is just another way for Full Tilt to make their rake faster from us... I don't play RUSH at all... don't like it...

how could you keep track of players if they constantly change you tables... you can't pick up betting tales or anything...

if you are not going to gamble when they give you money...what will it take?

- play 4 days at 10 points if you win do the whole 7...you wont get a better deal

You can pick up a lot of tells-that are useful for playing rush-doesn't necessarily apply to how they play other games. You do see the same players over and over.
