Im sure most everybody knows what "Overlay" in a poker tournament is but as a refresher; An overlay is a poker term generally used to describe the gap between a poker tournament's guaranteed prize pool and the actual prize pool generated by entrants.

Looking into playing a game on Juicy Stakes Poker I came across the below game. The minimum of 9 players just made it in by kickoff and as of this posting had an overlay of $4,100 in a $7,500 guaranteed MTT.

Id be in if I had the time today...

Player count went from 17 to 29 in the last 5 minutes of the 60 min late registration period.

So an overlay of $1,700 in a $7,500 Guarantee or @23% is not too shabby.

As to why better than 1/3 of the field waited 60 minutes to enter, still baffles me in a $215 BI. I mean in lesser BI games I feel the majority of the field have a fairly weak post flop game so avoiding some of the early blind donkey sukouts is a viable approach by buying in late. But at 2 bills, the Play gets a little better on average warranting seeing every hand possible.

well senior, it is deepstack so regging late means you still have 100bb and dont have to play 1 full hour.

Very true but if you miss that :

Btn 3x Hero :qh4: :jh4:

BB Villain flats :ac4: :ad4:

Fhop :kh4: :ah4: :10h4:

it might impair your effective stack possibilities.

The above has never happened to me but I did flop the nut flush with a OE St8 Flush draw and had 3 all in in front of me on a $230 BI 168 player MTT on the very first hand.
Took me a minute b/c I really did not want to leave b4 I even warmed the seat up.

I did call and quadrupled up vs 2 sets and top 2 flopping whackos.
