Is it safe to use the "Fold" checkbox? I think we all know it's not smart to use the auto-call, auto-raise, check-fold chech boxes in online poker. However, does anyone find it unwise to use the "fold" checkbox? if you're going to use the "fold" check box, you're going to fold your hand anyways. What's there to give away?

I don't like to get into the habit of using any hand action check boxes. As for the "fold" check box; let's say it's getting late in the game, you have a decent stack, the blinds are 800/1600, and you're in late position, on the button, or the small blind with a Q/4 offsuit. If everybody folds and it gets to you, wouldn't you want to consider stealing the blind(s) with, say a 3X the BB raise regardless of the hand you're holding?

re: Is it safe to use the "Fold" checkbox? poker if you think your opponent will fold 50% of hands, do it. in the case he does not, you still have about 30% - 50% chances to win. So, in a long term approach, you are supposed to win remember that if you choose to play, do not limp, cos u are on early position.

I routinely 4-table, and I not only use the auto fold checkbox, but also the auto check-fold checkbox, and very rarely use the fold to any bet checkbox. That said, I will only use the auto check-fold if know that I'm folding to even a min raise. If I have a hand like 25o in the big blind, I'm not even going to call a min-raise. As mentioned though, I never do it from the button or 1-2 off, or from the SB (for a different reason, get to see a cheap flop and most of the time a simple 2x BB bet postflop will take the pot down).

I multi table alot (2-3 usually). I will use auto-fold frequently, but usually only preflop and when I have cards there are no way I'd play that hand. I never use any of the other ones. Even if i have complete crap if someone is making it extremely obvious they have nothing I sometimes toss in a smallish bet at them. They are very effective, but in my experience a very high % of players pick up on the "check/fold" button being selected and will bet out immediately regardless of cards. Way I see it, auto-fold gives out zero free information, preflop anyway. The other buttons do.

re: Is it safe to use the "Fold" checkbox? poker I use it all the time when I know I will be folding anyway. I don't think this gives any information away. It speeds-up the game and I can see more hands that way. Regarding the example above when you might want to steal: In that case you are NOT 100% sure you will be folding, so obvously it should not be used. But if someone open-limped or raised and I know I am folding for sure, I check it. Regarding using the check/fold box: I think this gives information away if you end up checking. An observant opponent will notice that and know that you have a weak hand and can take advantage of it later in the hand.

If you use this al the time, especially if you multitable, then people will pick up on it. Therefore understand that your image is that if youhave a poor hand then you autofold......use that to your advantage eg if you have a decent hand you do not autofold. ( which means that you can occasionally raise with crap and get away with it when on button/SB/Cutoff

I don't see why people shouldn't use this option. There's nothing to give away, besides possibly that you have a hand not worth playing. Which you would give away anyway by folding at a normal pace. If you have a hand where there is any chance that you would play it, then don't use it that hand. And fold/call/bet when it gets to you. The check/fold button I would never use, but thats because if I see someone using that button, I will almost always bet after the flop, although I guess it is possible they used the check/call button... But I don't think thats happened to me yet.

I can think of a potentially creative use of the check box. If you have very observant opponents, you could create a reverse tell by using it with weak hands that you intend to fold to any pressure, and then using it when you want to trap them. The problem, of course, is that most of the time your opponents are not that observant, and trapping doesn't work well against weaker players.
