| RUSH Formatted MTT? I had a thought this morning while @ a couple of RUSH tables doing my 2+2. I'm not sure exactly how they would work it, but a RUSH style MTT would be a blast. I'm sure Full Tilt would be highly motivated to put it together. They would benefit from earning their rake at a much faster rate not to mention adding an entirely new stream of revenue. I know it takes a bit from the classically formatted poker tournament we all enjoy when we have the time and lack of distraction, but I rarely have these luxuries. So if anybody here has some pull with PokerDad or anybody at Full Tilt, float the Idea, Chris Last edited by CAMurray : 5th April 2010 at 3:20 PM. |

| I'm sure they will find some way to implement something like this down the road, but there are a couple problems. It would work fine in the early rounds if it was a big MTT, but once it got down to say 5 tables, it would get MUCH slower and basically go back to a regular tournament only you wouldn't have the same people at your tables for each consecutive hand. |

| I remember someone here had mentioned this idea when Rush had first come out in the rush poker thread I thought. Not sure how much I would like it, but I am sure there would be plenty of people who enjoy it. I would definitely give it a try tho. I dunno if Rush would work that well tournament style tho, but who knows. |

| I haven't really thought this through but I'm unsure what FT's monetary incentive would be by providing an MTT in Rush format? For Cash Games it's the increased rake being generated but MTTs consist of a buy in...am I missing any revenue-generating steps (as it is, the 300-chip donkaments behave like Rush MTTs...ugh) other than having these types of things consistently available so if a peep gets KOed they can just immediately register for another? |

| re: RUSH Formatted MTT? poker dont think it would work because the field eventually whittles down until rush poker may just slow the game up. if they made it so that it stopped when it got down to last few tables or so it might work. It may just be another flop like the casout tournaments. |

| You wouldn't have to goto a regular MTT at all. Once it got down to say 18 change it to a 6 max then when it got down to 12 change it to a 4 max when it gets down to 10 do a heads up. The only thing is they would have to install a much shorter decision timer so no stalling can happen. |

| I agree this would work but I think it would turn many off the the whole concept just because it would totally alter the dynamic. 6 Max and full ring MTTs are very different games requiring a whole new skill sets as I know you guys are aware. Many players, including me, enjoy 9 player table games, but totally suck at 6 max, unless its a shootout. Why I have no idea. I treat it like that funky pain you tell the Dr. about. | That might be what makes it fun though. If you run extremely deep in a tournament, you are going to have those table dynamics anyway at some point, assuming you make it heads up. Only the player you're with wouldn't change every time. But if it was down to 10, you'd be playing each person about 1 out of every 9 hands heads up. Would be an interesting concept and I'm sure FT is looking into a way to do it effectively. |

But what would you do with the possabillity of sitting out in a hand to see the outcome, or to see what the preflop raiser holds in his hand like you can do at Rush. This would slow things down esp. around bubble-time. |

| re: RUSH Formatted MTT? poker sounds pretty bad tbh why? you MUST play h4h and that basically eliminates the idea of "rush" in poker. Some tables will go so super slow depending on the action. So it would mean you are just moving tables every hand, which is retarded if u get a sick tbl draw with fish you want to exploit them and take maney you dont want to get moved to another table. moving tables randomly isnt fun and is only half of rush poker the other half just simply doesnt work lol. |

| I don't think a RUSH-style format would translate over to MTT play at all. A big part of MTT's is the ever-increasing blinds... so the players would be sitting on blinds a disproportionate amount and there'd be really no advantage of mass-folding (what.. so you can be on the blinds more often?). I just think it's a really bad idea & would be happy to 'bet' that it'd never fly. |

It'd be like taking just about everything out of the game. They've got BINGO down at the Legion once a week here where I live - - one hour they yell out the numbers really fast -- aka 'Rush Bingo' and you pass your bingo card off to the next person ever call out. If you happen to have the winning card passed to you... BINGO! (my example of what I think this idea would do to MTT play). |

| I enjoy the intelligent give and take of ideas here on the forum & overall spirit most all of the members here exhibit in their communiqué. I also can understand and appreciate the comfort some take when posting statements here, given the anonymity, they might not have the balls to make given they were standing in front of the one they were speaking to. After your reading your post P.O. I take comfort in the knowledge that if you were standing in front of me, the person you just directly insulted, you would have, at minimum altered your choice of wording. Quote:

| I can see rush working with MTT's, up until they got to a certain point. It should probably be "Rush until 1/2 are eliminated" though. The problem is that once people can see the bubble they'll play really slow and ruin throw a wrench into the whole rush thing. People are eliminated at a higher rate in Rush, so in a time-based blinds system they can fold to the money a whole lot easier. You'll need to end Rush-style play well before the people can fold to the money, or the game will be a mess. I do like the idea though, as it'd liven up the boring first half of the tournament. It'd probably induce a lot more bad play from poor players as well. Last edited by SavagePenguin : 5th April 2010 at 8:34 PM. |

In person it'd be the same (if I even bothered to comment about it tbh). Didn't mean to offend... just stating what I think. Perhaps I could've (should've) worded the part differently where I wrote "trying to be nice" (although at the time I was feeling like I was trying to be nice). Sounds like others on here think it's a good idea & would be interested in playing it! Who knows.. perhaps there'd be enough to make it fly. Can't for the life of me understand why though. |
