Running of a poker site

I know theres a ton of promotional/advertisement work done, but i'm wondering, once a poker sites software is setup, is the actual software self operating? Meaning does anything need to be done manual to keep the site going? If so, what does this involve?

Is this a Level?

How can any site not require a tone of manual work? Banking, AR, AP, Tournies

Is the banking not done via pre set software? Don't know what your meaning by absolute poker but wouldn't tournaments again be pre set with the software? (not meaning it creates new/different ones)

If everything was automated, why would a site like pokerstars need so many employees?

Think about running any business, then add software on top of that for a poker site.

btw AR=accounts receivable AP=accounts payable for some reason this site changed my AP' to absolute poker ..
Who would write and maintain this magical software you envision?

What about security?
The list goes on.

I would imagine a lot of employees of pokerstars are programmers to update/make changes to the site, along with research and development and a bunch of other things.

Software does not work by magic.

well if you are only skin on network you do not need many workers
