Really dumb play

I did something so dumb yesterday, and am still kicking myself so hard about it, that I just have to embarrass myself by telling you guys.

I'd won a spot in a WSOP Quarter Final qualifier at poker.com (value $22). Sixteen players, top three got spots in the Semi Final qualifier (value $88), next two got coupons to play in the Quarter Final again, and 6th place got $12.

So... I made it to a paying spot and worked really hard to come back from being the short stack. Really wanted one of those Semi Final coupons. There were four players left and I had just over 3,000 chips. Two other players had between 1,000-2,000 chips and the far-and-away chip leader had the rest. Blinds were pretty high -- I don't remember exactly but guessing about 200/400.

I'd been having a good day playing poker overall, and during this particular game things had been going my way. And then I had a total brain freeze! I had QQ and was in the pot against the chip leader. The flop came J-x-K (don't remember what the smaller card was), and I was first to act so I bet out. He minimum raised and I called. On the flop he put me all in. For some reason not only did I think he didn't have a king (he'd been making some plays during the game), but I must have also forgotten I was on the bubble for getting a Semi Final seat, because all powers of logic departed my brain and I called.

As you can guess, he eliminated me from the tournament with two pairs, jacks and kings. Why, oh WHY, did I do something so stupid?? I thought I'd feel better about it today but I really don't.

I'll give it another shot tonight hoping to redeem myself. At least I wasn't eliminated before I got the free pass to try again.

Sometimes when you play for a long time, you get tired and you don't think straight and see flushes or straights that aren't there, etc. I'm sure you'll win next time. Good Luck!
